The Ashford 3 espinner is my first spinning wheel as well, and I also just started spinning pretty recently. Your reaction to assembling the wheel was the exact same reaction I had, as was the realization to use multiple bobbins for plying. I’m watching this while spinning, so fun!

@@knittingwitheve haha I wish I had tips! The things I’ve learned the hard way are all around plying: to put a little more twist in the singles because they untwist a bit when you ply them, and to ply slowly so you don’t get corkscrews. Best thing I’ve done is to just trust the process and spin a little every day.

Welcome to the rabbit hole of spinning on a wheel! August 2023 I bought my first spindle and in November of the same year I bought myself an e-spinner. Mineis smaller, it’s the EEW Nano2. I’m a lace knitter and my tiny little e-spinner is perfect for what I spin as I don’t need large bobbins. A spinning wheel is a game changer compared to spindle spinning. There’s a bit of a learning curve and my favourite spindles will keep accompanying me to places where I’d rather not take my wheel. Have fun, and please share your results!

Thank You!! I've heard the EEW Nano2 is a great first wheel as well! I'm really enjoying spinning, I'm almost out of fiber and will need to get more! So far I've spun 2 yarns and I'm working on my 3rd right now, I shared some images on my instagram, and Plan to make more videos as I learn more and get better.

@@knittingwitheve - Definitely share your progress in videos! I think it’ll be extremely useful for fellow beginners. I’m only a beginner myself and have learned lots of useful tips from the videos of advanced spinners but funnily enough some of the most valuable things came from people who are self taught or who are starting out themselves. Plus: there’s something to be said for watching someone in a very similar situation as yourself. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of beginners sharing their journey.

I think for the price of the e-spinner, the setting up process could be easier... But I'm so happy for you and all your upcoming spinning ! 😊♥️

Thanks so much! I'm pretty sure unless you get a used spinning wheel, the wheels will all have quite a bit of setting up to do once out of the box. but I do agree would have been nice to make it a bit easier.

I learned on an Ashford traditional wheel, but I have a leg injury and the constant treadling really affects my leg… soooo….. I “had” to get their e-spinner. I love it, and otherwise I would not be able to do spinning. ( I also process my own sheep’s fleeces, and have an Ashford drum carder too!).

wow couldn't they have provided a bit of bee wax ? this is not an easy setup machine.

@@knittingwitheve I just ordered the majestic ghost e-spinner I'm totally new to spinning , only have a diy homemade support spindle hahahaha. but a got the spinning bug in me now. just have to wait for it to arrive from the USA to spain.
