I would put one long board/shelf on top of your shelves on each side of your tv. It would need to be a sturdy piece of wood. It would be kind of tall but it would give you so much more space for puzzles that you don’t need to get to every day.

That makes sense. I think it would be the best solution. Thank you!

Very fun puzzle collection. I love videos that organize and de-clutter. Also great husband, he was so chill and even supportive of wanting to help by putting shelves in the kitchen. I think shelves in the kitchen could work and would not be near any heat for fire concerns. You could display "food" themed puzzles OR just do shelves up there for other things not puzzles to simply create more space for yourselves. However, adding more shelves in the living room would be more practical. Maybe put shelves as part of your puzzle goal, since puzzle storage is part of the journey and we enjoy watching you organize them. 🙂

Thank you so much! Daniel is awesome! I think for non-kitchen related storaging in kitchen requires a permission from a neighborhood (neighborhoods in Finland are legally more like companies, ltd) and I don’t wanna do that hassle. Living room it is! Or maybe even renting a storage 🙈🙉🙊
@njchenault4 ай бұрын
"building"more shelves with wood and cinder blocks or crates) is cheaper than long term storage. Also, maybe store large series on top and bottom shelves, for cleaner look. Good luck!

I just realised you have tons of unused wall space just under the ceiling and your ceiling is pretty high. Google ceiling shelving for living-room and you will find plenty of exemples. Ikea has some ideas for sky-high storage with a picture of shelves above a window. you could have that all around the room execpt in the kitchen.
@puzzlewithemilia8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips. I will take a look on that. But not above the windows because our windows are as high as our ceiling. 😁 I think my problem is that I want to keep my interior as simple and minimal as possible. Even buying those shelves was a mental struggle for me.
@themopie8 ай бұрын
A bigger shelf and some nice minimalist art would look great in the living room and still be simple. You could even think about doors to keep the minimalism going.
@vg44138 ай бұрын
@@puzzlewithemilia having shelves higher than eye level would help keeping the minimalist feeling. But seriously, if you keep up posting puzzling videos, your collection is doomed to grow . It is not compatible with minimalism. The last place that is still free is probably the backseat of your car 😉.

Do you know how people in America do with the storage problem if is too much? they rent a storage place or get an outdoor shed where they store more things. I don’t have that because I donate and sell my things but my mother in law has a storage unit. Some people dedicate a whole bedroom just for storage. Being you are young and just started with your collection, be ready for more puzzles, unless you create a nice flow of exchanging, donating, selling 😊
@puzzlewithemilia8 ай бұрын
@@Laura_Stanford I have thought about renting a storage. Thanks for reminding me of that options. Outdoor storage would not work because of the weather in Finland. And just to clarify before someone says I’m a liar 🤣 I don’t follow minimalism. It’s what other people say about my house. I never even thought about it. I just want to keep it simple because I have zero eye for visual, design, interior… I did tend to overload my previous house with all kind of furniture, items, decoration etc and nothing looked cute together. So that’s why I try to keep everything to ”minimal”. 😅

I know it doesn't help with being able to view all the puzzles, but one thing I do is nest a 500 Ravensburger inside a 1000 Ravensburger. Put the 500 piece puzzle in your ziploc bag, put it in the 500 box and then fill the rest of the 500 box with pieces from the 1000 piece puzzle. Put the 500 box inside the 1000 box and then fill in around it the rest of the 1000 piece puzzle. This allows the two puzzles to easily be separated when you want to work either of them and stores 2 puzzles in the space of 1.

Thank you so much. This makes sense. I think it could work out especially for the puzzles in the bedroom as I’m not able to view them all anyway. 😊

Well you certainly gave yourself plenty of exercise reorganising your puzzles. 🏃 Keeping puzzles is all very well if you have the space. How many of your puzzles are being kept because you intend to do them again and how many are being kept for the sake of so doing? 🧩 Years ago I used to have a huge pile of jigsaws in a big cupboard. I decided to get rid of them and just kept some that had a particular significance for me. Now I only keep puzzles that relate to my home city or celebrate a special occasion like for example King Charles Coronation or some other significant event. All other puzzles I do are passed on to the local community for others to enjoy. Jigsaw puzzling is a wonderful hobby but you need to be realistic about how many are kept. Not all of us live in Buckingham Palace! 😁Look forward to your next video, I always enjoy watching them.

Thank for the comment. I actually got sweaty doing this 😅 and answer to your question, I do most of my puzzles multiple times. But I also do have a mentality to hold on everything I own. Probably because I grew up not being able to afford anything. Never been a problem before my puzzle hobby because I’m no big on shopping. I do want to donate some though, I haven’t found the right place to donate yet!
