I would personally love to see more projects like this. I definitely struggle more with the loose style even though I love the way it can look. So I appreciate guidance and suggestions working through it.

“Look at the years, not the days.” Wow. This hit home for me. I’ve been creating now for 11 years. That’s when I started stamping and making cards. They were horrid at first. I look at them now and wonder how I could have been proud of them but I was. I loved them at the time, even though I knew they were very basic. For the past year I’ve been doing watercolor and drawing. Of course I’ve been very critical of my beginner attempts, but I also see how I have improved over the year. But now, if I look at how my creations evolved from year to year over these past 11 years, I see the evolution. It is so helpful. I will see that improvement year to year as I continue to practice watercolor as well. On some level I know this but…man…patience!! I need patience! And little reminders like this to be a little slap in the face. So, THANK YOU, Sarah Cray!!!

Ohhh this is going to take me wayyyyyy out of my comfort zone. I get what you were doing, I can’t draw, so the outline is my preferred. I’m going to give it a try.

I love your bug projects. I have done many of them. I have to admit, I really struggle with loose and I noticed that when we switched to the left side, I stopped painting. I checked facebook, messed with other stuff and hesitated for several minutes. Then I took a deep breath and dove in. This project rocks! Love the colors, love the idea, love the finished project!

Painting loose is definitely a learned technique, and we are so IMPRESSED that you didn't give up or allow this new technique to stop you from creating. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for allowing us to be part of your creative journey.❤️

You remembered correctly, it is a Tiger Swallowtail. This is super beautiful and I'm going to have to make this a project in our homeschool and have all the kids follow along with you! :) Here's a poem for you, it reminded me about what you said in regards to building skill: "Little drops of water, little grains of sand, make the mighty ocean, and the pleasant land. Thus the little minutes, humble though they be, make the mighty ages, of eternity." Julia Abigail Fletcher Carney

Wonderful project to combine tight and loose painting! Your colors are so vibrant on the right and soft on the left. Beautiful! (loved Kenan's pun on "good tip" when you were showing what you can do to the paint bottle... )

This was a hard one for me. I laughed so hard at how mine turned out. I’m not ashamed. Going to hang it on my wall. I put the date on the back and I’m going to redo it in a year to see my progress.
