Good work , an easy way to stop the paint bleeding under the masking tape is to do the masking and the do a light coat of clear laquer. This will seal the tape and if theres any leaks there clear !

Looks great, I usually pull the tape off before the paint dries to prevent tearing of the painted surface. Your method worked perfectly. Really nice job!
@dannywiley4072 Жыл бұрын
Looks great Mass! If you had the track on its side and painted straight at it, it would help the bleeding. Also light coats to start with helps. When the track is laying down flat and your painting at an angle, it is more likely for the paint to bleed in those seems. It’s all about the angle and amount of paint to start with.

Hi brother! Yeah it’s a little bit of a daunting task. I remember regretting it when I first started because I would take a step back and realize I have to take apart the whole track lol. But the look once finished is worth it in my opinion. Not to mention the extra grip.

I think painting a track has to be a thought before you assemble the final layout on a couple tabletops! Great idea!
@MPSlotCar Жыл бұрын
@@lindseyangell986 agreed 100% In my case although I didn’t have any intentions of painting the track when I built and assembled everything. It was an idea that grew on me as time went on and after seeing the amazing work done by Boone. In a ideal world yes you’re right, it would be nice to paint first and build after. But if there’s someone like me, Boone or anyone one else that painted afterwords, it is doable. Some work is involved but nothing crazy. Thanks for watching! Cheers✌🏼

@@lindseyangell986I’m still in the process of picking a final layout for my track. I’ve already made a few design elements inside of a couple of curves that I know will be staying. I used foam board and made my own shoulders instead of buying them from Carrera. This method is giving me the opportunity to make different types of curbs, rumble strips, gravel traps, etc. On one curve in particular, I made the shoulder on the outside lane SUPER slick, which takes away the advantage of wall sliding along the outside lane. I can’t wait to get it finalized and paint my track to match. I’m taking inspiration from COTA and will be doing a swoopy red, white, and blue with stars theme all over my curbs, shoulders, and runoff areas.

Hi AJ, yes sir, tough to see I guess in the video but they were masked off as well

Although I find the typical tracks too black, this is looking a bit too bright for me. With the rubber marks, it's way better, but unfortunately unlike a real track those are only in the middle. Maybe use a dreamel with a sacrificial tire to make marks everywhere?
@johnminehan7664 Жыл бұрын
How did you tape off the sensors? Nice job looks really good
@MPSlotCar Жыл бұрын
Hi, I just used the painters tape and made sure to cover the entire sensor. I left some extra and pushed in around the sensor using something thin like the Slot It Allen key that comes with their cars.

Massimo, what is that Krylon spray paint? Is it an acrylic based paint? You have inspired me to do my track. I got a flat white and flat black prime paint made by White knight that sticks to plastic. I'm sure it will do the same thing. Note I'm in Australia. Cheers, sorry if I spelled your name wrong.

I use some black Acrylic paint, and apply it using a brush, some areas with a damp microfibre cloth, and a rear axel from a car with tires dipped in paint to make some of markings.

My comment is , did u acheive a gripper track , I have been using silicone tires , But you use Paul gage correct , so I like to know if u have done , laps with both type of tires with the new weathered track look
@MPSlotCar Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes the track surface has more grip so mission accomplished. I’ve now only been using stock tires and Paul Gage. I only use the silicones at the club track now. Reason being the silicones like to clean the track and remove any added grip that has been put down by the rubber or urethane. I did run one car with silicones on when I first put the track back together, it was moving! With any car you can feel the difference the grip levels. You really feel the difference with non mag cars, there’s just a little more bite in the corners.

Hi Tom, I personally just used the Carrera one personally but I know it’s not the greatest/most user friendly. There’s a few free softwares out there. I know Sunday Slot Cars uses one that seems to work. I think Slot track pro might be the one but it’ll be best to checkout Sundays Channel

@MPSlotCar Жыл бұрын
Didn’t like the white lines on the Carrera track. Nothing wrong with it, to each their own I guess. I personally wanted to experiment and try to make a more realistic looking surface, plus add a little grip.
