I like the complexity. I play board games, in part, because I enjoy the mental effort of managing the engine. I like knowing exactly what is behind everything that happens. I don't want the automation (or streamlining) of a video game.

@Beppsta4 жыл бұрын
@@CrypticBore it looks so slooooow to play with a ton of upkeep and flipping so many cards. There are a ton of dungeon crawlers currently out in the market and also on KS to be delivered. I have the video game and love it (over 100 hours) and although the board game appears to capture many aspects of video game, that’s the major issue. Some mechanics in a video game do not transition well to a board game.
@dayz1124 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, not all video games transition well to boardgames, if is to pass 30% of the time sliding tokens and not real fun, there is no interest, i will keep playing darkest dungeon the video game, the same is also true to Frostpunk.

I was already planning out spending $250 for everything and thank god I found this video. I thought it would be the next big thing for board games because of how popular the KS campaign has gone but after seeing this video I know that it wont be the case. It looks too cumbersome to really get into with a group of friends and I feel like after I show them the game and the rules they will never want to take it off the shelf to play it. I love the videogame but it does not translate too well to the TT. The figures look excellent though! Maybe if the team had a good understanding of the game it would look more fun to play. I am glad they did not do that though since a first play through would look kind of like this.

Unfortunately this game is too tedious and complex to be fun when played with a group. Maybe this'll prove to be a good solo experience . Mythic missed an opportunity to port the game in a more streamlined, quicker and fun playstyle

I love to back this project but the shipping cost makes me hesitating... Why does it cost like 100$~150$ to Asia country? Is the box that big? Heavy? To be honest I can’t see a big difference from the other similar-sized KS Board games. They charge like... Under 50$ what’s wrong with this game?

Yup could easily make your own board game based on what you see in this video just by having some large paper and pencils

I know this is late, but the game is basically a box of resin miniatures. The volume of miniatures makes the shipping cost a fair amount.

Not sure why they went for a 1for1 translation of a (amazing) video game that utilizes tons of modifiers. Would be much more interesting, and less fiddly, to see a more unique approach. Such a missed opportunity to make a dark dungeon crawler boardgame. And as always, please show more of the table and the actual game during these playthroughs please

Let's be honest, if you are a fan of the game, there is absolutely no point on backing this, unless you want to own and paint the miniatures. Why would you pay 10x what you payed for the digital version, for a much less fluid gameplay? This still looks like a solo game to me. Those miniatures look absolutely spectacular, but the gameplay, not so much. Even considering they are learning the game, it does look dull.
@MySqueezingArm3 жыл бұрын
I went in on this for the minis, but the game does offer a slightly different take on the gameplay loop. Instead of being the 'team manager' you are the 'athlete'. Seems like it feels slightly different. The video game loop is great, but I can see the board game being fun with the right group. Again though, the minis are what sold me. I can use them with Pathfinder or Call of C'thulhu or something.

@bernhardholmok99504 жыл бұрын
As much as the video game was one thing, translating it to face to face is not the easiest since no computer or AI to remember all the rules and make things quicker. I just like to play face to face since the banter, etc is what i truly enjoy about games, winning is a bonus but not required. Even those games that I got wiped out on are remembered.

@@bernhardholmok9950 I bought Hellboy and Nemesis for those reasons but this game seems to drag what takes 10 seconds into 5 to 10 minutes for each mechanic. It shouldn't be that way.
@rogerbartels56904 жыл бұрын
Funny, I swapped video games for board games because they (i.e., video games) weren't complicated enough.
@bernhardholmok99504 жыл бұрын
@@NoirProxy thats what a computer can do, what takes us 10 minutes, takes a few seconds. Consider the designers had to take into consideration all that occurs for a result to occur in the computer game and then put it down into table or other form to recreate. You need to fulfill x criteria, remember, a computer does it all in the background where when you play a game, it all takes place there.
@NoirProxy4 жыл бұрын
@@bernhardholmok9950 I understand the concept of a boardgame and that a computer can move the game along by press a Next button. The problem is that you are overviewing smaller mechanics when they should be supplements to the adventure that Darkest Dungeon offers. It makes the idea of the Court expansion more worrying as its difficulty in the video game alone makes all this drawn out toil an unrewarding time sync if you fail. Nemesis for example gives players multiple alternative objectives to succeeding but always able to aim higher. DD literally wants you to aim for a sole objective, or fail and start over. The benefit of DD as a video game is that you control a team as a solo player yet if you are destroyed in the early stages of DD the board game as a 4 player team then you are sitting out for a long time until everyone fails, or you get to reroll in the carriage but the carriage is dependent on your team actually wanting to play further after so much time sunk already. As others have commented it is a giant time sink and way too much of a mechanical grind and upkeep just to aim for a goal that is separated by multiple linear paths.

@@NoirProxy I think the issue people (including me) have with the mask wearing in this case is that they're in close enough contact with each other for such a length of time including before and after filming. They can wear a mask if they want, I just see it as silly if you're around the other person for a good chunk of time and touching objects.
