There's not much you can get from the essence farm that you can't get with the chickens. I'd say the chickens are better since they're so easy to get and automate but I haven't actually automated an essence farm yet, so it could be better. Maybe.

The chickens are much better early on, since they give you the things you need without much setup, but automated essence farming is waaaaay more efficient. Once you start needing large quantities of base materials, essence farming is the way to go. Basically, they both have their uses, and Geoff's chickens are much more useful at the stage they're at now.

I went and looked through all of the detailed spawn conditions, and the only thing relevant I could find for hostile mobs is this: "Sunlight falling on the spawning block further increases the chance that the spawn will fail, by up to 50%." Since sunlight will make it light enough that they can't spawn period, I assume the sentence means "visiblity to sky". If so that does mean that any cave at any height will have a greater chance to spawn things, but also that just covering your spawn with a roof will have the same effect (which should obviously be done anyway so that it works during the day).

_Talem _ no, the fans just suck lol. build a proper mob spawner. switch out the fans for flowing water, fill empty space around the 4 lanes, and 3 high. OR, if they can make mycelium, line bottom of spawner with it. If I remember correctly, mobs spawn faster on that.

+Mike Cowles I'm guessing you aren't familiar with this modpack if you're suggesting they make a vanilla spawner. If you utilize the mods properly you can make a spawner that absolutely dwarfs anything you can do with vanilla. The fans don't suck, they've just been unaware of their area of effect. If you use a traditional vanilla spawner with flowing water it won't work on endermen, whereas fans will. You also have to wait till they walk into the water, whereas with fans set up properly all mobs will be instantly blown into the hole as soon as they spawn. Later on you can make the bottom of the spawner cursed earth, which just shits out mobs, and mycelium doesn't effect spawning anyway. Mushroom island biomes disable mob spawning, and while they contain mycelium, it's the biome that has the effect and not the block. Ryan was actually on the money in this video when Jack asked, he said they have a 1*5 area of effect referring to width*distance. It's actually 1*1*5 for width*height*distance, but close enough. Based on how Jack built the spawner and where he put the fans, he'll need 1 width, 1 height, and 2 distance upgrades in each fan for it to work properly. The height is only necessary for spiders too, so if he just moved each of the fans one lower he'd only need 1 width and 2 distance each.

I know this will get lost in the comments but whatever. After 7 long months I am finally caught up on Minecraft episodes. I started episode one mid-January now I am all caught up. This series has been amazing. From the first few episodes pre-Achievement City to all the challenges in Achievement City. To all the mods they have explored. Now Sky Factory. And everything in between. This series has been one of the greatest series of anything I have ever watched. I hope this series never ends and that it continues to keep pumping out amazing episodes. Thank you Achievement Hunter for all the laughs you have given me this series and anything you guys do. P.S. I saw you guys at Let's Play Tampa and it was amazing. I love watching them play Sky Factory.Cause they are sort of playing Minecraft.I never truly enjoyed the whole Minecraft episodes of like do this or that.But I really enjoyed the end videos where they actually played the game.Hopefully after they are done with this they can find another awesome modpack to play with so they can continue playing Minecraft and not doing that whole "fast forwarding" stuff like before.

Yeah I just think that whenever we see a letsplay of them actually playing the game and actually enjoying it, that mood translates well to the audience. If they enjoy playing a game, chances are that we will too.

It's really interesting to watch how Jack, Geoff, and Ryan/Gavin do the same things in entirely different ways. Like, they're all working on resource production, but Jack is growing it, Geoff is raising chickens to lay it, and Ryan is going down the mechanical production route. Watching their methods intersect is pretty cool.

They understand that torches stop mobs from spawning, the idea to put torches down in the graveyard probably came up but they decided against it to milk the entertainment out of dying repeatedly trying to get there stuff. This is based of the fact there isn't a single torch nor is the idea ever reached or mentioned.

Man, I have been playing Sky Factory on my own lately. I was so excited to see Geoff's reaction to going to the Nether and finding it void. My heart just sank when he walked into a completed Nether and immediately found Nether Quartz Chickens. I guess I'm using a more updated version since they did this over a year ago now, but I feel gypped.

You do know that not only was he gone for a few parts so he confused and behind on what to do, he just had some major life changing stuff happen and might be a little distracted from all that. You can't except them top be 100% perfect, 100% of the time, cut him some slack, and just enjoy the let play for the fun it is,.

Not really. Michael is usually one of my favorite AH members but holy fuck does he not belong in sandbox games. It was like this when they started vanilla Minecraft, when they started TDTD, and when they started basically every other survival game. The person above is trying to defend Michael saying that his head wasn't in the right place at the moment and that he missed a bunch of parts, but he literally was like this from the very beginning. If someone doesn't give him a job, he is literally fucking useless; and it's kind of boring and somewhat sad to see after so many parts in a series that we all watch for the progress that the rest are all making.
