Let's Play: Mythic Battles - The Hot Gates

Today we're playing Mythic Battles: Pantheon with Leo from Mythic Games using the Thermopylae battlefield to recreate the famous Battle at the Hot Gates where the brave 300 Spartans faced off against the Persian hordes.
Except this isn't a historical game; in Mythic Battles we also have the god Ares fighting with Leonidas against the waves of unrelenting armies of the undead, straight from Hades.
How would you have overcome the imposing corpse wall?

I got home a few minutes ago after picking up the box with all the expansions for Mythic Battles: Pantheon from the post office. So perfect timing for this video to get me in the mood to paint and play.

It is worth waiting for. Just be ready to do some big heavy lifting in order to get it home. If it all had arrived at once in one big box, I would have been forced to push it all the way home instead of caring it.

wohoooo Team Leo :) It amazes me how thematic they make the scenarios in terms of gameplay, you actually feel like your in the battle of Thermompylae. These guys are amazing and all the scenarios are so cool and unique, LOVE mbp :)

Apparently they record and sit on stuff. I'm still waiting on another couple of episodes of Kingdom Death they still haven't released from a year ago.

You think they would have released the newer Kingdom Death videos during the 1.5 1st wave shipment but nope. Still found the older videos helpful for rules and such though. Would love to see them fight the Kingsman and The Hand and how they tackled those fights.

But why Leo draw all the cards at the end? Does he should draw only once he was to draw and he cannot? And why the artillery did not have the +1 to be on top?

Nice game. I just don't understand when the bombthrowers were on the same space as the archers, why did he try to kill Ares instead of just walking down the cliff into the "end zone"?

I'm having deep regrets not going all in on this game. I only backed for the main box + stretch goals. Deep deep regret... ): Am I just out of luck on the other content, or will they do another printing/kickstarter since it's not going to retail.

I thought +/-2 was the most you could modify the number of dice gained / lost by?

The artillery on the cliff could have won the game, maybe halfway through the video by making a run for the second objective. Just dash off the cliff and into the green stone area.

no units had the climb ability and it applies to climbing down as they said at the start of the video so they were stuck there.

If Leo's troops are killed, do they become dead weight in his hand since troop cards don't pair to count as AoW?

why do dogs have +1 range from hill? do they jump attack off of the cliff?

0 07 It’s odd but yes. It’s disturbing for sure but great tactical rule within the game. Maybe it’s better to think that the edge of the mountain is a soft edge, allowing the dog to run down and attack, still protected by the rocky terrain.

Units that have no basic ranged abilities should disregard this rule. I will definitely house-rule this once I get my copy. Especially with dogs it's ludicrous. Soft edge hill suggested goes both ways and if dogs can climb back so should the defenders closing the range gap for melee.

Does anybody know where can i buy rock / hill terrain similiar to those used in video?

Check out any local hobby stores. Especially ones that sell model trains. They always have scenery, trees, rocks etc.
