Let's Play Tales of Maj'eyal *Insane* - Writhing One - Episode 1

Here on popular request(3 people but still) is the Lets Play of Tales of Maj'eyal on Insane difficulty. I'll be using a Writhing One both because I've only ever played through it with one once and its also powerful enough to make an Insane playthrough more doable in a single try.

This Let's Play is top shelf. The best of ToME on youtube, probably. You have a nice voice, very good commentary, and are very knowledgeable about the game-- I will be watching whatever ToME videos you put out there. Never give up what you are doing. A real gem.

"Aaaaaand that's my mama!" That cracked me up to absolutely no end. Really excited about the series. Just started playing ToME and it's a little overwhelming, but having a good let's play to watch and seeing someone who has a lot of experience with the game play it and offer bits of advice here and there is really informative. Off to the next episode I go!

@@BlackBinderGames Quick question for you: do you use standard keybinds? it seems like you use the keyboard a lot for movement, but it also looks like your hand is on the mouse while doing so. Do you just shift your left hand over to the numpad while moving, or have you adjusted your bindings? Been trying to use keyboard more for speed but i like having my hand on the mouse.

Calen Carabajal I redid the entire thing so I could use WASD for my movement and use the mouse at the same time. I really dislike traditional rogue like keybindings.

Calen Carabajal you would then use QEZC for diagonal movement

Great videos man!! I’m able to beat the game on normal with most melee classes pretty consistently gonna give nightmare a try soon and the tips you giving out on this and other videos will help a bunch. If you are able I would appreciate an Archmage guide sometime in the future, thanks a bunch!

@w00gedyb00gedy Archmage guide is 2nd on the list after Bulwark. I know Archmage pretty well(at least the main Wildfire build), the problem is getting through the game without getting one shot because of a lack of passive defenses. Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot =)

I remember one shotting the dragon boss from the green tunnels when I played WO on normal (was my first win). I stacked Darkness&pen though, did like 8k when constricting :D

How do you get those outlines on NPC? You mention killing all the white border when you first enter Last Hope at ~6:00

@Cam Nguyen I ALWAYS forget the hotkey but its like ctrl + t or something like that. In game chat will know.

I bought every pixel/8 bit rpg/roguelike on sale and this was one I was super excited for. I just feel like I need a little direction this doesn't necessarily feel like the traditional rogue dungeon crawler however I could be wrong. I feel like theres an objective. Any information?

@8 Bits Pretty much just start will Trollmire and Korpul. There is a story but after playing through it so many times I kind of just ignore it. There is a zone progression guide on wiki which most newer players tend to follow. Beware it gets very difficult regardless!

Ya it’s possible, it might even be better if you go heavy darkness damage.

Why not take adventage for a good start? Its free and U get to see some epic Loot early on. Must be exciting even after 6k hours
