I have heard, that depending on the gender of Shez, you get different classes to unlock.

Depends on the route, but you can persuade them on the battlefield if you buy the strategy before the battle. I got Hapi in this stream

You get the points from doing the side quest map missions. Renown is for stat boosters right now. There are some grayed out options in the renown menu though
