A great episode, and one of my favorite side chapters! As much as I dislike the ranking system being solely based on completion time, I do think it's amusingly fitting that your grade increasing seems to correspond pretty well with how much you're improving in the game. One word of caution though: don't dismiss flamethrowers so easily. Rosie was hit with an Attack Down debuff and still almost killed her target in one shot. And that flamethrower you got from completing this mission? It's one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Also important to know that the sweeping arc isn't just for show, you can hit multiple enemies with the flamethrower if you position the attack correctly. "A" ranking this mission in a single shot is quite the achievement! Seriously impressive work. The next few episodes should be very interesting, I can't wait to see how things go!

Thank you! I do feel like I've been improving bit by bit. Although I'll probably get an F on the next mission and regret these words x) Ahgghh I didn't realize she had a debuff at the time. Debuffs are practically invisible to me. I really gotta learn to pay more attention to them. I hadn't realized how significantly they would decrease my damage. Thank you for telling me that I should give flamethrowers another go. I'll definitely be giving Rosie the ultra powerful one. And then I definitely won't forget to use her. For sure. No, but seriously, thank you for this advice! Awww thank you for saying such nice things. Truly I wouldn't have gotten the A without your lovely support, you know

Congrats on yet another A rank, you're nailing it! One thing I do really recommend is flanking enemies more if you can help it so you don't constantly get the attack debuff from the interception fire, since pretty much all enemies are using debuffing weapons now. While there is a obviously a lot of parallels to WW2, it's these moments where the focus is not on the characters and their personal struggles. But rather the horrors of war and it's consequences that really invoke an extra layer of dread. Knowing hunts like these where very real even in real life is dreadful honestly :( I can't help but respect the devs for not shying away from these topics to be honest. Which I feel too many games nowdays have an unfortunate habit of doing in favor of romanticizing wars. Looking forward to the next episode!

Thank you! :D Ah yeah, flanking would be a good idea. I'm so used to ignoring debuffs in games. Brute force usually works out most of the time. Ahhh this is probably why I'm trash at turn based games, huh x) Right?? Gah it's just so awful to think about. But you're right. It's good that they included it. It's real weird when a game sugarcoats wars-- especially actual, gruesome, historical wars. It's important to acknowledge how awful they actually were. Otherwise you'll have people denying how bad genocide is or something. Or doubting that such a thing really happened.

The Medic is another reference to Skies of Arcadia So remember how I said all orders are set numbers, and all potentials are %? So generally, they are all a 40% increase or decrease. If it says Greatly boost/reduces, then its 60%. As for triggering them, you can increase you chances by "rerolling" as it were. So if potential is triggered by standing on soil, you can keep moving between a paved surface and dirt to try to get it to trigger. Or its by being close to a certain kind of unit, you can also move back and forth to try to force it. Yeah, I really like that the objective to this mission is to take down all enemy units. I think Valkyrie Chronicles 4 is a much better at unit balance, mainly because it has more diverse objectives, scout rushing is only so pervasive as it is in the first game because so many missions are just "capture main enemy base" Correct, flamethrowers are best used on enemies in cover or in grass, as they negate the defensive bonus from it. Also they perform much better when you aren't hit by an attack down. Scouts have increased detection range for enemies hiding in grass, that's why you were not seeing them before when you had other units walking through the area. Congrats on another A! Very happy Freesia didn't die in her first mission too~ You rendered the Desert Dancer beautifully in the thumbnail, hopefully she can continue to inspire her squamates with her dancing in the next part!

Oho, so the medic is familiar with Vyse and.... Aika? That makes it all the more strange that she is basically nameless, though. AHhhghg you are giving me such delicious information. Yes. Okay. Can I say one quick thing, though? You told me about tanks not regenerating health, yeah? A couple parts ago. And I felt like a total dummy because I made the mistake again. So I'm real sorry about forgetting stuff. All the time. Three second memory, eh? Aaaanyways it is good to know that I can intentionally try to trigger a buff. I always thought the sand/soil/grass/metal ones were based on the map, not on the actual terrain they were currently standing on. Interesting. It makes sense now why Freesia's love of men triggered a second time. Although it's not like they can stack, yeah? Or does loving men only occur around men? So walking away made her lose the buff? AHgh I'm sure this is all much more intuitive to someone versed in strategy games x) Oh, so would Valkyria Chronicles 4 be good for the future? I did notice that's the only other one on steam. Bahhh attack down?? This is what I get for ignoring debuffs all the time. Ah! That's what the antidote is for probably, huh. Jeeeeeez. Oh, it makes sense that scouts can see farther. Very cute. Thank you!
