I actually remembered the warlords series a few days ago... OMG, warlords I was the first game i ever played in 92 - 93 i think.... awesome game... i dowloaded both 1 and 2 and DOSBOX but only runs the first game... when i try playing warlords II i gt a black screen which frozes... anyway... awesome series indeed...

I would definitely love to see some Fall From Heaven lets plays! It adds soo much flavour, which does make it a bit more complex than the regular BTS but I'm sure your viewers (including me to some extent) would be more than happy to provide some strategy & tips.

I remember when the game was released, I was engrossed in the trilogy. What we had to imagine back then, we construct and translate into graphics, games and films today. However, the 1990s were groundbreaking in every respect. Despite the poor computing power of the chips ... or because of it.

Phil, I'm sure a million people have pointed this out to you, but many of the people who made up SSG after Warlords Battlecry II, including their frontman Steve Fawkner, ended up becoming Infinite Interactive, and created the Puzzle Quest series. If you haven't played the first Puzzle Quest, you should. Lots of references to Warlords III and WBC.

Can you run this safely on modern hardware running old Win OS (XP or W7)?

@@mydroid2791 I haven't tried since windows 10 came out, but I don't see why not. The only consequence of that "mistake" so many years ago is that the game ran super slow...it didn't hurt anything other than my patience. Warlords 3 is available on GoG, and that runs fine.

cant get sound to work with dosbox. any thoughts?

dosbox config file is pretty self-explanatory, it has instructions... the problem is: where to find it? in newer versions, they started putting the Config file inside the Users directory, I hate that... older versions of dosbox until 0.72 still put the files in the same directory where you are running dosbox from, and it works for most games.... so I recommend trying that one first

I've looked into ways of making dosbox portable (all in the same directory) but couldn't find it, guess it's not possible... I have to go through the manual labor of creating a shortcut for it and adding -conf myconfig.conf at the end of the shortcut... I fucking hate that crap

If you're interested in a recent turned based strategy game like Warlords, check out Conquest of Elysium 3 on Desura.com by Ilwinter Game Design. They also created the Dominions series of games, but COE3 games tend to run alot faster. There's a free demo available for evaluation.
