My new pallet forks have arrived. Let's unbox them and start moving some stuff. We'll put out one of the water totes to collect rain water, and unload the hay spear and box blade from the back of the truck.
I got mine here: www.palletfork...

Suggestion, remove the drain that is buried, use your loader to cut out a nice flat/level spot right next to the building, sit the tote right up beside it, cut your down spout off above the tote. Adapt your pipe to drop straight into the tote. Just make sure its sealed but easily removable. OR you could even make it permanent and take one tote and hook a pump up to it to transfer your water. Either way keep up the good work. Enjoy your videos.

Just go to Harbor Freight if you have one in your area. The batter operated pumps are less than $10 and use one of the 20% or 25% off coupons. I have used mine several times and it is GREAT!

seems from your videos, that you get lots of rain in your area. may i suggest that you put the rubber caps back on the vertical tube to keep the rain out...

It does seem that way, but it's usually only really rainy in the spring. We may have had an above average year for rainfall, though. I keep the tractor parked in the barn when not in use, but that's a great suggestion.

How about visibility with the forks? It looks like the solid quick attach plate would block visibility.
@BlackSparrowRanch
@BlackSparrowRanch 3 жыл бұрын
The visibility could be better, but the forks are so long it's not much of an issue if you're tall.

Don't use forks for moving heavy trailers. You only have brakes on the rear of the tractor. The trailer weight will tend to lift rear wheels off the ground and reduce your braking.

I was thinking empty trailers, but you're right.

I retired 8 years ago but I drove forklifts for over 37 years, all different sizes as well. It's a lot different when raising and lowering as you tilt in or out, kinda different I know. Don't those totes have a bottom drain on them?
@BlackSparrowRanch

Yeah, they do. Big hole on top and a valve on the bottom of one side.

@@BlackSparrowRanch So bottom side is where to fill it from gutter?
@BlackSparrowRanch
@BlackSparrowRanch 5 жыл бұрын
Ideally it would fill from the top, then hook up a hose to the valve at the bottom to water the garden or whatever. I still need to put a gutter on the other side of the shop, so I'll probably pipe it over there. I just had to get some water in there to rinse them out.

Sportsmanguide.com has metal 7gallon jerry cans with regular spouts and a long hose to go in your tank. $30 a piece. Way better then plastic junk

that's not going to work . I mean the water collection idea. Its not going to have enough pressure to go into your tank. It would take a flood to do that.

Apparently someone’s new to “farming and Tractors”. Please learn your subject matter before educating the world.

Well for one, it's not an educational video. It's me doing things, many of them for the first time (which I say very often in my videos). Two, if you watched the entire video, you would have clearly heard me say that up until this point I've only ever driven forklifts, and a front end loader one time. I have said in many videos that I'm not expert and "this is not an instructional video." I try not to pretend to be an expert on things I've never done before. I often ask viewers for recommendations on the best way to do things, or I do trial and error. At this point in time I was new to "farming and tractors," but I'm not trying to be a farmer. I need a tractor to maintain this place, and pallet forks make a lot of things much easier. I actually use the forks more than anything. Not that it really matters, but I do feel qualified to talk about pallet forks specifically, as I've been driving forklifts for over 20 years. Though the handling is much different than a tractor, it's the same principle.
