I am SO HAPPY Laura won Luxembourg Song Contest, it was completely deserved. The performance is very good, there's a lot of room for improvement but that's OK, she has time and she will improve! Glad I could vote for her 15 times from Italy 💙

The song is connected to the song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" by France Gall, who sang it for Luxembourg in 1965 and also won. It’s exactly 60 years ago, so it fits really well. The song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" is hard for me to translate, but it’s about a doll that lets itself be "controlled" like a puppet. It’s also associated with the era when men dominated the music industry and, more generally, when the male gender was more dominant in society. I tried to find explanations for the song online and found this: “The song was understood by many as a kind of ‘meta-commentary’ on the role of women in the music industry, portraying a young, naïve singer who allows herself to be used by the industry and the men who control it. Gainsbourg, who was known for addressing provocative and often controversial topics, allegedly deliberately portrayed France Gall as a ‘doll’ who ‘plays’ what is told to her. The feminist critique of this song was that it depicts the young woman as a mere object controlled by men. Furthermore, the song itself was perceived by some as somewhat cynical and manipulative. The title ‘Poupée de cire, poupée de son’ (Wax doll, sound doll) was interpreted as depicting a young woman as an empty shell who only responds to external influences and has no voice of her own.” The new song by Laura Thorn is about her singing that she is not a doll who will let herself be "controlled" by others, that she doesn't want to keep quiet. The title “La poupée monte le son” translates to “The doll turns up the volume” or “The doll raises the tone,” and it’s meant to suggest that women can make their own decisions about what they do. They can stand on their own and don’t need anyone else. This is also sung in the song. Furthermore, she sings a part that says, "It’s a different pattern, a different era, and now I raise my voice." That’s why there’s a shift in the song when she rips off her doll costume and is dressed differently. I believe (in my opinion) this is meant to symbolize the liberation from the "doll role." The staging is really well done, and for anyone who understands the lyrics, it’s a great song and a beautiful homage to our dear France Gall. I hope I could clarify a bit.

If you want to know who is the singer at the start of the song : It's France Gall, winner of Eurovision who won with "Poupée de cire, poupée de Son". And now, It's "La poupée monte le son"

I like it that it sounds like we are brought back 20-30 years ago when eurovision sounded like this.Wonderful.The nananana part is so catchy

This song is an obvious tribute to Luxembourg Eurovision entry "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" that won the Contest in 1965. What means 60 years ago. It's an anniversary. I do like the fact this new entry is sung in French one of the official languages in Luxembourg. Cultural diversity in Europe is mainly shown through the use of various languages. Eurovision must reflect & convey this reality.

I do think Laura spends too long as a doll for a song thats about not being a doll. I think she should break free from being controlled maybe no later than 90 seconds in and maybe the men spend 30 seconds to a minute trying to regain the control they lost and then give up because they realise she has broken free from being a doll and she wont let them control her anymore.

The bit where she sings “Oublie-moi, je ne suis pas ta marionnette C'est comme ça, c'est comme ça Ton p'tit manège s'arrête Si tu crois qu'un homme comme toi me manipule” is perfect for exactly what you explained

This is a wink about "poupée de cire, poupée de son", a song sung by a french singer, named France Gall, who won eurovision in 1965 for the Luxemburg.
@aliceferguson60338 күн бұрын
This song was written by a french older composer named Serge Gainsbourg. And this man wrote a song with many sexual double senses and gave it to a very young (18 years old) and naïve, at this period because of her age, french singer. So... the 2025 song is the "revange of the doll"... new women, new codes... girls are more than dolls for boys today. ;)
@aliceferguson60338 күн бұрын
The older singer, France Gall, died in 2018, so 7 years ago, at 70 years old (from a cancer) so she will never see the new doll...

This song is sooo catchy. Everyone has been saying super childish, it’s about a doll so it’s going to be childish, but it works imo. It reminds me of Denmark 2019 and Austria 2016
@aliceferguson60338 күн бұрын
The lyrics are not childish when we know the story/ the underwares of the first doll song, sung by France Gall.

Prenda guarde a toi, guarde a toi.
