3:08 Two of the songwriters, Jonas Thander and Melanie Wehbe are Swedish, and one, Pil, is Danish. Melanie Wehbe is mostly known for co-writing The Mamas' "Move", that never got to Eurovision in 2020, but she's co-written 7 Melodifestivalen entries, including "For the Show" which she sang herself in 2023. Jonas Thander has co-written 3 previous Eurovision entries. "I've Been Waiting for This Night" 🇱🇹 2016, Bigger than Us 🇬🇧 2019 and "Amen" 🇦🇹2021. He has also co-written 4 Melodifestivalen entries, including "The Silence After You" that's competing in Melodifestivalen 2024. He also was the music producer for Masked Singer Sweden 2021 and 2022. Thander also played the saxophones, and arranged and recorded the horns on songs like Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's "Bang Bang" and Taylor Swifts "Shake It Off".

I really like that song. And for her first live performance this was beautiful too. A reminder that the Eurovision Song Contest was about the discovery of new and young artists so I am happy we are getting this from Denmark as others are ignoring this...

This song is really doing it for me! I do agree that the staging and vocal runs can be tweaked and improved to the point where it is a solid qualifier. She did seem very nervous or understated at the beginning which she can improve on

i feel like she was less nervous in the superfinal. good performance. also i feel like while too much literal sand might be too, well, literal, what about shimmering white sand? i feel like that could fit the staging as is, that could maybe even elevate a little into something with more magic and texture since its now just LEDs and lights.

What this song needs for qualification in my eyes are: better camera angles, backdrop interaction, more interesting lighting during the choruses although the last chorus looks pretty good.

I really love the studio version but live this really needs lots of work. Now it’s 95% backing vocals so imo she’s not carrying the song at all. But there’s enough time for improvement. For now this is borderline qualification.

There is a lot to improve, yes. And as Alesia points out, the first verse especially was technically not good. (Much worse in the real live version, than in the edited official video.)

I think we have a chance og qualifying unless she's too nervous or people want more uptempo/fun/quirky bops or there are too many females in that semi and maybe right after each other, so someone just has to lose when compared.

I really loved all the lighting choices, especially the ending explosion of lights and the silhouette. The song is acceptable but not incredible

DMGP really compensated for the lackluster song pool with very sleek staging. "Sand" is ultimately just a radio-friendly pop song but a very decent one. I'm so happy they chose this over the rest, which were pretty mid.

I don't know.. I am unsure.. I don't think any of the performers were really fabolous, live. I mean they were all a bit off at times. Was something wrong with their sound? And the song was too low for Saba 😬😬😞 I am worried how Saba will do on the international stage! I really hope they fix it so it fits her range better 😩

Somehow I have this association with Tusse (2021). Great performer but the song didn't fit him. Probably this Scandi-sound. I'm really worried Denmark and Germany can't find their own sound. Last year Germany really tried hard but Denmark never seems able to produce a winning song. Too safe aka boring. Is it the broadcaster or the public? Maybe I'm wrong but Denmark is never on my list unfortunaly for the last years.

Superfinals aren't exactly optimal for picking Eurovision entries. In this case it kinda worked out for SABA, but generally speaking its sometimes a mess

I think Basim’s song is a Danish song. Denmark is probably not going to send songs like Ireland’s or Albania’s.

We need a new broadcasting company to host Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. DR has completely lost the plot, and the quality is getting worse and worse. It lacks professionalism, creativity and origninality. In my opinion, Denmark should leave the contest for a couple of years, reogranise and come back, and I do think that this requires another company taking over.

I think her vocal performance in the beginning was rather shaky and uncertain and apart from that it sounds kind of Loreen. I think the song is sooo boring!

This song just sounds very generic. It's not bad, but I don't think it's very interesting and she's not terribly convincing. And this may sound weird, but screaming "sand" doesn't make a pleasant chorus. Also, I'm starting to sound like my dad but I find this light show way too much.

DR’s official version of the song is a total fake, they’ve altered the vocal track massively.
