The best volume of CSM so far and Fujimoto's strongest writing yet. It starts with the beautiful bonding scenes and conclusion of the Hayakawa family° continues with the Gun devil reveal and all that insanity, Makima's true face and her intimidating ability° ends with one of the most beautifully told fights between two brothers. I can't wait to watch all of this in the anime and see how the world reacts.

I dunno which translation is better but in the one I've read the Future devil says "Aki Hayakawa you suffered the worst death possible, as far as the Chainsaw boy is concerned.". Because in Aki's mind he's at peace playing as a kid he technically had a peaceful death even when the opposite actually happened outside his mind.

The way Aki died really was he worst way. When the Future Devil was talking about it, Aki immediately cut him off and told him that he was not interested in how he dies. And he was being honest there - considering how calm and collected he had been all this time, knowing that his time was almost up and how quickly he had accepted his death (talking to Angel). But he didn't know that his death would not be the worst way for him but the worst way for Denji bc of how much damage it would do to him. Which was literally the very last thing Aki wanted. At the very least Aki wasn't conscious and never found out how cruel his death (or, well, the gun fiend's death in his body) would be for Denji.

The fact that Makima is a woman makes a huge difference because Denji was in love with her.. he spent the whole manga just trying to be with her, the sense of betrayal this context provides is enormous. Even as a reader you feel so disappointed almost as if she cheated on you or something 🤣

Just because Aki's love for Makima isn't constantly portrayed doesn't mean it's "fake" or "just a moment from the past". We're talking about a very self-conscious and selfless person who is on a revenge mission and has less than two years left to live. Does he sound like the kind of guy who would care much for his love life at this point? Not to mention that the person he's in love with is, from his point of view, totally out of reach. His direct superior that he holds in extremely high regard. He's not going to suddenly start flirting with her out of the blue, is he...

After the reveal that Makima was the Control Devil, I had to keep reminding myself that she isn’t a fiend or a hybrid, she’s a straight up devil. All of the devils that we see in the manga are basically horrifying amalgamations of human body parts. Then there’s Makima who’s just a hot lady…

this is just my theory but i think i know why the arm situation turned out like so darkness arm attack only fully worked on devils arki got one arm back because future devil only resided in one of his eyes; ie one half of himself cuz after all eyes are the windows to the human soul kobeni didnt lose any arms at all i think cuz shes fully human angel lost both and couldnt re-attach cuz i think angel is not a fiend and thats just how he looks as a devil so the attack worked 100% on him power lost both arms but regained both because shes a fiend and so while it affected her, it didnt affect her body 100% so she was able to re-attach it. this also explains why power was still so horrified of darkness even tho she was kinda the least injured one.
