this just unlocked my memory bc i had completely forgotten about this show! can't remember how much i watched of this show - can't fior the life of me remember how i found it but i definitely remember being into the show back in probably 2014/2015 (i was like, maybe 12/13/14.) i have vivid memories of searching for 'awkward' fanficiton on wattpad. knowing my track record i don't think i finished it, probably stopped or fell off around season 2? i have no idea.

Yeah I don't know how I found it either. I think i was browsing the channels one day and landed on mtv and caught the last few minutes of one of the episodes in season one and I was tapped in. I would recommend definitely continuing at least until season three ,season four wasn't that bad but yeah if you haven't seen season three yet then you should. it's one of the best seasons of the show.

Even though the show was very over-the-top sometimes, I feel like it is very realistic of how teens do shitty things out of spite, jealousy, impulsiveness, etc. The feeling that everything is the end of the world, the quest to be popular and liked, mixed feelings about multiple guys, insecurities and overthinking about what something means, I feel like it's a very universal experience for teens who are feeling things for the very first time.

I think this show should've had 4 seasons and ended with high school. Going away to college and leaping to a year later was such a bad move and it made me feel sorry for everyone and their weird endings. They should've chopped half of the side plots in season 4 and put in the first half of season 5, then ended on a happy note with Matty and Jenna agreeing to try long distance even though it would most likely fail. Or they could even end with the bittersweet ending of Matty telling Jenna to choose herself because they would always find their way back to each other, then breaking up and going to different schools. They stretched the plots too much in seasons 4 and 5, the characters sorta lost their identities and became very different people several times.

As someone who grew up in the "Gossip Girl" era, I never heard of this show. And I think that's probably part of it. GG came out years before this and by the time this came out, its demographic was no longer interested. Teens in the 2010s weren't into the same stuff, that was more twilight era. Sappy romance, fantasy all that was more popular. This is more for the skins crowd, early/mid 2000's, unfortunately just beyond its time. I really liked Finding Carter on MTV though.

I used to love this show, it was one of my favourites at the time... it taught me so much about growing up and understand myself while ending the high school and starting at the college. Totally agree with the fact they lost some spark after season 3, pushed away some things and ran in circles (common, Jenna and Matty shouldn't have so many breakups!), but it's still a guilty pleasure. I love Luke, he was the best Jenna's love interest/boyfriend, but Jenna and Matty were such an endgame... there wasn't space for anyone. I liked how much Matty grew up with the seasons.

I love this show because i see myself in Jenna as in the awkward girl who struggles to find her place in the world. At least season one Jenna because I never got that level of attention in high school. I use the events of this show as a guide for what not to do in relationships but it did help me realize that when I had. ‘Boyfriend’ it wasn’t real because his friends didnt know about me like Marty hiding Jenna from jake. I found put the same why she did, when his best friend tried to get at me and ofc i pulled a Jenna and got with the best friend LMAO but i am quite literally Jenna Hamilton
