Let's rip out the motor and trans! BMW 2002 Custom Build

One of the top reasons I got the parts cars were to take out the motor and trans to put into my car! In this video we take those out and test to see how it works. This really solidified that I want to rip out what is in my car and replace it with this. These small steps get me so excited!

Its a 4 speed, 5 speeds cam out later. Lots of good saleable parts on your parts car. Those chro.e passenger side mirrors ate hard to come by... they were an option. Also the air pump( vintage polution control) are wanted in the emission city restoration cars..

Tip: Take the head off, clean out the combustion chambers and look for cracks between the valve seats. New valve seals, maybe new guides too. Only use 20w50SAE oil in a M10 motor. And try to find BMW '02 Restoration Guide by Mike Macartney a very informative book.

Like you said 4 speed is still better than an automatic.The sunroof is cool.

Decent prime beef on that white 02 doors look good etc save the good stuff off white car moldings door window frames, door guts etc.

The aftermarket sunroof is the cause floor rust.The leaked bad and they bring the value of these cars down. The factory sunroofs are a different story as far as value goes. However if you did;nt clean the drain channels they caused a lot of rust as well.
