Let's Sew a Ruffle Tote Bag!

Finished Size: 15" L x 14" H x 4" D (38.1cm x 35.6cm x 10.2cm)
You'll need: Basic sewing kit
Cut 2x - 16"L x 15"H (40.6cm x 38.1cm) Exterior Fabric
Cut 2x - 16"L x 15"H (40.6cm x 38.1cm) Lining fabric
Cut 2x - 16"L x 15"H (40.6cm x 38.1cm) Heavyweight Fusible Fleece
Cut 2x - 23"L x 4" W (58.4cm x 10.2cm) Fabric for straps/ handle of the tote
Cut 2x - 23"L x 4" W (58.4cm x 10.2cm) Fusible interfacing for the straps
or handle of the tote (optional)
(Please follow the manufacturer's directions on how to apply the interfacing and fusible fleece)
Cut 1pc. 65" L x 4" W (165.1cm x 10.2cm ) fabric for the ruffle
Fabric for the one Bias Tape size: 47" L x 2" W (119.4cm x 5.08cm)
Square Cardboard - 2"x2" (5.08cm x 5.08cm)
Magnetic Snap button 18mm size

How do I determine how much fabric I need to make the ruffler for a bag of any size?, thank you

It depends how full you want for the ruffle. Measure the length of the bag or the spot where you intended to place the ruffle. Then, you can multiply it by 2-3 times or more. In my case, it is a fuller gathering so it is more than 3 times. Calculate: Length of the area x desire ruffle gathering (2-3 times, or more) + seam allowance
