I am 76 , and live in Kenya, and in primary and secondary schools were taught Gujarati, and always had interest in learning Sanskrit to explore other Indic literatures. Tried many different ways of learning Sanskrit, all ended up in failure because the methodology was wrong. I have now found the KEY, and am sure in next few years can master at least get along to explore the Sanskrit literatures.

The Reason I am learning Sanskrit is not for religious or spiritual purpose, it is for how beautiful it sounds, and how it will unlock me to dive into Southern Asian history.

This is an excellent initiative. I am 30. I studied in English medium. And i had zero exposure to Sanskrit, except for prayers i may have heard here and there. I would have despised our sankriti or culture like so many youths today who are educated in this system. Except i got in contact with books of HDG Srila Prabhupada and Iskcon. They are doing a great job in promoting Sanatana dharma. Since, i was practically english in my tastes and thinking, i am always indebted to their service. While reading the works of Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavata Purana i noticed how beautiful the words are. I like memorising verses. And would love to learn Sanskrit. You have done an excellent service for humanity. I can learn at my pace and interest now. Learning Sanskrit is very important. We have to preserve our heritage and pass it onto the future generations. Without that Bharat would be extinct. Bharat itself means where people are engaged, 'rata' in cultivating knowledge. 'Bha' means light or illumination or knowledge. I used to be a big fan of a character named 'Superman'. Everyone who has contact with American cinema or culture have heard of this guy. In tv or movie side of things they tend to ignore the nuances of this 'action' character. Being the last son of an alien planet, Krypton he had superpowers. People show that in films. But in the source material there is another aspect to the character. Being the last of his people he strives to preserve Krypton. His lost home. He had constructed almost a museum of Krypton's artifacts. And he learnt the 'Kryptonese' language. When some survivors from the lost planet eventually show up, like his cousin Kara, they converse in that language. They try to follow the traditions or special days in anyway possible. That is actually beautiful. Even when the people and the culture are gone, Superman tries to learn and preserve his culture and thus his home. I related a story in fiction which highlights the importance of protecting and promoting our shared heritage. In my opinion, Sanskrit should be made our national language. Just like Hindi is promoted to promote national integrity, Sanskrit should be promoted. We should be planning and working on this. Because learning a language doesn't mean learning just a means of communication. But it opens up whole new worlds to explore. Not knowing Sanskrit we are detached from our forefathers. The great sages who left so much wisdom for our benefit. Thankfully, now there are some offshoots for systematic promotion of the knowledge. Yoga has become popular. But once Sanskrit becomes popular everyone would find how connected we are thanks to the sages and saints who appeared in this land and blessed us. Hare Krishna. Please accept my obeisances.

Priyam Chakraborty ~ I agree 100%. Here's my two Paise worth. I take that you're Bengali? To make the effort of learning Samskrit easier, first you should find all the common Samskrit(am) words in Bengali and that should be your starting point of easing yourself in to the learning of Samskrit(am). All our Bharatiya Bhashas have come from Samskrit(am) and our Bhashas have 50 to 80% Samskrit(am) words, so that makes it all the more easier. Also, watch this short video by Rajiv Malhotra on Samskritizing english. You will be blown away by this audacious new concept, which I am implementing successfully in my daily life in all my conversations. It works wonderfully & helps not just me but all people who I encounter ask me, 'what those words were that I was using', which in turn gives me an opportunity to explain to them what they were... :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3u3iZ6sjJueocU

Congratulations to the Channel team and the teacher for the exemplary work of reviving and spreading Sanskrit and the ocean of knowledge it carries. I am 60, a retired Banker and a student of Sanskrit and yoga. Throughout my life i had a deep feeling inside me that I had almost wasted my life as I could not study Sanskrit to which there is no parallel or comparison in the whole world. Learning Sanskrit is the first step to learn directly from the gold mines of the ancient wisdom of the Rshis, which connects our existence to the whole of cosmos, and at the same time applicable to our daily life, which would eventually create a better world for humanity to coexist with other creations of the universe. Luckily, eight years ago I was initiated into Kriya Yoga and happened to attended a few Satsangs, sessions, of my Guru on Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. I started collecting important scriptures and started Swaadhyaaya, self study, with the help of these texts, translations and you tube videos. My study notes on the Bhagavad Gita slowly transformed into a word by word translation to my Mother tongue, Malayalam. In the process I could acquire a fair understanding of the language, which made me capable of guessing the meaning of A Shlokas with a fair degree of accuracy, or even composing them without formally learning the grammar. When in doubt I refer to the construction in the scriptures I study. I am yet to find a Sanskrit Scholar with whom I can clear grammatical doubts. If anybody can be of help, kindly contact me. My contacts are given below. For informal adult self study of Sanskrit Language I would like every one to study Bhagavid Gita, so that you can have an initial understanding of the language, can apply the ever new wisdom of our ancient Sasthras in our social as well as work life. Sanskrit and the wisdom of the ancient Scientists, called Rshis, who lived in forest academies called Ashrama, are the common heritage and wealth of the whole humanity. kssudersan@gmail.com 0091 94472 48428

*Do read this please* Bro dont discuss your ideas among those people who does not know its value, they are surely gonna oppose you and sideline you. Just mingle with the ones who agree with your ideas and discuss with them only but when among these so called modern people dont discuss these things, rather just create a fake image among them and side by side keep indulging in these things, become powerful economically, physically, mentally, once you are powerful people will accept any idea of yours, people will have to listen to you, then you can disclose your teaching among massings. Remember hitler's rule: if you want to change a rule, first follow it and get to the top then change it. At the time when most of the hindus especially are eager to disown their own religion and become atheist, without even understanding our own culture, you cannot expect them to know the importance of sanskrit or vedas or something like this. Better dont discuss these and dont make yourself a fool among them. I learnt this strategy the hard way, that no matter how intelligent or important your talks are, until and unless you are powerful, even your own friends will not agree with you and make you a laughing stock.

Being a doctor or engineer isnt just about a high paying job..someone has to heal the sick too and engineers too have to do their work..without engineers even this video wont be possible..lets learn to give every profession its rightful place from a worker to a King. I am a medical doctor and Sanskrit teacher both. Its entirely possible to pursue more than one career or job or interest in life and also earn for a livelihood at the same time. You are doing a great service to everyone..lets encourage everyone to take up more than one interest in life.

I agree with you sir that it is possible to pursue more than 1 interests. However, I don't think that Uday Sir's comment was really critical about other jobs. It is an honest truth that you'll find lakhs of engineering, medical or commerce students, but only a few would chose Sanskrit since the pay scales are not really very high. It doesn't mean that the other professions are not required. Speaking about my own case, I am CA Final student & holds a post graduation in finance. However, I am really interested in learning Sanskrit and the knowledge of yoga over any other thing (way more than accounting or tax). But I simply cannot take up this field right now! (Honest reason: difference of payscale as Uday Sir said). So, probably that was the sense in which Uday sir was saying! Thanks for reading this long comment all the way till here. Hope you have a nice day 😊

@@JatinNagpal1 this is not the 1st time i am seeing a sanskrit video saying that many prefer high paying jobs like a doctor etc. A doctor job might be high paying in some countries but it comes with real hard work and dedication and a doctors life isnt a bed of roses..so the best is not to compare jobs..all jobs are important from undertaker to priest..btw one can also earn lots by opening an ashram..money earning capacity is there is any job.

This is the best news I've come across this independence day. Please do put up a course which is accessible to a large audience... Many people I know are very much interested in Sanskrit, but are not able to pursue it because a good course is hard to come by. I'm personally looking forward to learning the linguistics and the thought processes that have endured for such a long time in the form of this language.

I studied Sanskrit in school, but, unfortunately, as you mentioned, it was taught in a very dry way. Too much focus on the grammar and the mechanics. I still enjoyed it, partly because my mother would teach me interesting things from our Itihas in Sanskrit. I’m VERY excited by this initiative! I will really try to follow the videos and relearn Devabhasha the right way! All the very best, and thank you and your team for doing this 🙂🙏🏽. You just made this Independence Day 🇮🇳 even better!
