This has a nice balance of staying faithful to the original and switching it up. Pretty. With that said I still had Al’s and Tina’s versions dancing in my head this whole time I was listening, especially the former, which is the definitive IMO.

This is fantastic. That rhythmic brushing of (I assume) Ryan's palm against the bridge of the guitar, the organ bass line, the no-look leads on the Rhodes, that impeccable and effortless vocal... So good. I only see one SDC on the guitar, but the mix feels a bit wider... am I missing something?

I wonder the same. I think it has something to do with the fact that the guitar was recorded both with a mic pointing the 12 fret and a line (a cable), and both have been panned to the right but still have some space between theme, plus the difference in sound or frequencies, so maybe that’s what makes it wider. But I’m not entirely sure

Ryan isn't above dubbing in additional instruments if the occasion calls for it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an overdub on the guitar part toward the end. Doesn't really bother me, it's usually tastefully done.

We run the guitar through an amp and I usually put some pre delay on it to give that wide feel. Thanks for noticing!

ahh glad you’re digging them! we record 10 songs a day with 5 different singers two days a month. each song is arranged and recorded in about 45 mins! it’s a lot but very fun and rewarding!
