I love your Everymans collection, such great quality books. And buying them secondhand is a true find. But it is rare. All my Dostoevsky are in these editions, except humiliated and insulted which isn’t available. Happy reading!

Definitely recommend starting with Kafka’s shorter fiction (Country Doctor, Penal Colony, Metamorphosis). Great video!

Children of Hurin was my big find last year. I have read the LOTR trilogy too many times to count. Great vid. I like Dostoevsky and Melville. I lost interest in Don Quixote about halfway in. Just subbed.

Nice channel. Have you gotten around to Don Quixote yet? If not I really recommend, it's absolutely hilarious. Don Quixote and Sancho are some really funny characters. Yes it shows it's age in some ways, since it's not super complex compared to modern literature, but nonetheless still great. Nice collection, I have many of the same books like Crime and Punishment, Ernest Hemingway and the CS Lewis apologetics set.

Dude, you're cultivating a wonderful channel. Love your taste in books and your personable demeanor. Glad I get to be one of your early viewers! There's a book you may be interested in. It covers the inspiration for and creation of Crime and Punishment and uses that to illuminate various aspects of Dostoevsky's life and how his writing absorbed into his psyche: The Sinner and the Saint by Kevin Birmingham. Also, three books to ease you into physics prior to reading McCarthy's latest: The Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene, Quantum by Manjit Kumar, and The Big Bang by Simon Singh. Each offers a serviceable overview of key aspects of physics while being engrossing, entertaining, and not getting bogged down in overly extraneous details.

Will def look into that sinner and saint book! The physics stuff is a possibility for sure as well, although when it comes to things outside of like nature science I find it hard to keep interest (science was my second worst class right after mathematics in school) Also thank you incredibly for your kind words. I’ll have to check it out! Since getting back into reading I’ve been really wanting to revisit the narnia series but it got lost when my parents moved house. I read them as a kid and would love to revisit them with my adult brain and look deeper into the meanings. Thank you for the support and recommendation!

Hi Brent! Nice channel! I think Metamorphosis is a better book to start with Kafka than The Castle. the Castle is quite convoluted 😂 I know I had a hard time with it.

Fun fact about Hemingway he was somewhat of a lady’s man. For some reason women were drawn to him and he also committed suicide by shotgun in late home in Idaho
