Hi Amanada, totally get what you mean, but I feel like it really depends on the platform tbh. Yes I agree that Twitter is the worst of them, and Facebook and Instagram are honestly not that far off either, but I've oddly found that of all the random ass places that have good vibes when it comes to comments... is Imgur. I kid you not, it is a kind, welcoming and liberal paradise. Do I use it actively? No, but when I stumble across the comments on random meme photo threads, does it generally make me feel better about humanity all of a sudden when I need it? Yes oddly enough lol, I recommend giving it a try.

People don’t realize how hard true and honest self reflection is. Even I’ve been struggling with that, as while I haven’t gotten to anywhere close to the level of hate in the comments in this video, I’ve noticed in the past that I’ve gotten sarcastic and rude when I wish I would’ve been sincere and nice, or at the very least quiet. It’s very hard to realize that you’re not as good a person as you thought you were, and even harder to actively change that. Especially because it’s easy to justify your own actions when you create an Us vs Them mentality. How many times have I told myself that it’s okay to leave a rude comment because the creator is homophobic? How many times do you excuse your bad behavior with that before you start lowering the bar- I can be rude and mean because they’re homophobic, or because they’re mean too, or because they’re promoting overconsumption, or because they’re annoying, or because they kind of dress like I assume bad people dress, or just because I’m in a bad mood. Again, I haven’t gotten to that point, but I recently realized I started to go down that path. Recognizing that and stopping that was really hard, and even now I’m on the verge of quitting social media because the constant allure of validation and likes and engagement makes it very hard to not give into your worst impulses.

Like, yes, you are the problem, you're a bully
@mynameisreallycool1Ай бұрын
I don't even know where these people even got this idea acting like bullying has somehow stopped, like people are suddenly pretending that everyone is kinder now, AND that this is somehow a bad thing. It reminds me of parents who heavily imply that they hit their kids by publicly talking about how hitting kids is good, while also claiming that "no one hits their kids anymore", even though them openly being pro-child hitting is proof that parents hitting children is still not taboo or uncommon. Because if it actually was, they wouldn't be praising that sort of parenting style all willy nilly in public. 😂 They know that most parents would agree with them, because they also probably hit their own children, because physical child abuse is very common, because a lot of people are still terrible and/or stupid, and parents like that don't really face that many negative consequences for it. The same goes for bullying.

My least favourite types of comments will always be the type of hate comments that are mean "sassy" one-liners. It's a special mixture of cruel and cringe (on the part of the commenters) when someone (especially someone not conventionally attractive) posts a video just having fun or showing an outfit and the comments are just ten thousand times "oh... that's not..." and "why is no one hating?" People just want to be mean so bad, but they want to be trendy at the same time and it doesn't work. It always looks just mean, not trendy. Actually, it's every mean comment that very clearly follows some kind of trend, whether it's insulting a physical trait that's just "out of style" somehow (physical traits should never be trends) or even just a type of food everyone suddenly hates for no reason. I hate all those kinds of comments.

The worst thing is, this era of the internet is straight-up cruel (and cringe). At least if someone's uninformed, you can debate with them, and hopefully change their mind. You can't do that with someone who knows they're cruel and is specifically trying to be as mean as possible. "As a hater," "Why is no one hating", "Oh!", "Oh... that's not..." say your piece or leave, nobody has time for your attempt to be "iconic".

Not to mention the amount of bullies online who can’t handle when they get told off after dishing it out. I don’t like bullying, I just think if someone is being a bully people do have the right to tell them off or report them or kick them out of wherever they’re doing the bullying. Multiple people who are bullied will turn around and say they’ll report someone after they were the ones who started it (not just on dti, irl too.) I’ve dealt with bullying all my life but this…this is a whole new breed of bullying and either parents need to monitor what they’re kids are saying or these people need to stop being on the internet because they are the MAX of chronically online behavior, I think it’s even worse, I think it’s just TERMINALLY online

I've said it before but I'll say it again; these sketches always slay so hard!! The "chronic hateritis" one especially; the little flashback to the session while Dr. Doctor was being interviewed - the camera angle, the doctor's encouraging whisper of "remember what we practiced" - really drew me in so much, istg I was fully ready to watch a 1-hour-long spin-off about how Amanda Wang overcomes her chronic hateritis. Ugh, I could gush about this sketch forever!! But to stay on topic; the amount of vile, abhorrent things that people comment under any form of content - Instagram reels especially, good LORD - is truly troubling. To see how many people comfortably use slurs and the mental gymnastics that they do to slip in any form of bigotry imaginable in a single comment is wild. 😭😭 HOW can they even sleep at night?? "Ah yes, I've wished great bodily harm upon 5 content creators and their entire bloodline today, job well done. Gotta make it up to 10 tomorrow, and maybe I'll get bonus points for managing to spin the most wholesome content into the most horrible, disgusting thing imaginable." LIKE WHO ARE THEY DOING ALL OF THIS FOR?? 😭😭

A type of comment annoys me is when someone says something is "the bare minimum." Can't we just celebrate something good without downplaying it as nothing notable. Like I'll celebrate to the moon about someone not being an abusive partner, so don't tell me I'm wrong for doing so because it's not the freaking bare minimum.
@wa_akii687317 күн бұрын
well- not being abusive *is* the bare minimum. but i get where ur coming from, the bare minimum is so rare nowadays that it warrants celebration 🥲🥲 plus we gotta celebrate the should-be-normal things in life so that we can combat the amnt of bad things being celebrated.
