In my opinion, it doesn’t even need to lock. My Kona’s locking charge door is a constant source of frustration as I get out, lock the car by habit, go to plug in, have to fish out my keys or walk back to the drivers door. I’m really not sure why Hyundai felt the need to have the door lock when the car doesn’t support VTL. Even if Telo does support VTL, maybe just require the car be unlocked to enable starting VTL and don’t have a locking charge door.

Just a small point: a 14-50 plug is rated for continuous max of 9.6kW, anything more is out of spec and may trip the circuit breaker (assuming the breaker is 50A). If the truck comes with an 11kW on board charger you'd need a hard wired EVSE with a dedicated 60A breaker to use its full capacity.

First thought over AM coffee… Door might be best with a vertical hinge axis or translate up to access charge port so down the road it doesn’t drop over bumps and whatnot. Second thought… If the door area were raised above the surface a bit for clearance, and you had a horizontal axis above, you could rotate the door (not towards the tailgate) out of the way to a detent. Or a simple (mechanical) sensing means to let the connector hold it open. Post charge, it rotates back vertical or you rotate it. You could even mold in a little curved arrow with “open” or a little charge lightning bolt so no language issue. Keypoints: Rugged, simple, intuitive, fail closed. Rotating things are easier than translating things…

@@TELOtrucks So the port would interfere with the front safety systems? Considering there's other EVs such as the LEAF that have it located there, it's a little hard to conceptualize why that would be the case? Had hoped the port would be on the passenger side rear to facilitate, curbside charging (Or at least have a customer option, to place it there). Which is particularly useful for the Telo urban demographic. (Has Tesla approved Telo to access the SC Network? And with the longer V4 cables Tesla is installing now, it's less of an issue at newer SC.) And for those buyers without a practical home charging option . How about offering removable battery modules, for at least part of the battery pack capacity? That could be charged at home. (And could even theoretically be used for backup power for a home?) I realize this would take considerable forethought in the design. So how about doing a survey among, Those that have placed a deposit. On if this is something they're interested in? Having such a unique utilitarian attribute, would definitely help sell the vehicle IMHO.

Doors, windows, mirrors, wipers, charging ports freezing shut. -10° F is not the problem 30° F drizzle with fog coating everything in ice is. My car lives outside, the charging adapter tilts down in the port allowing moisture to enter and freeze the latch. (I have wrapped paper towels around it to block this.) Will I be able to use my Tesla charge adaptor? I use a NEMA 6-15 plug (Just barely above Level 1, but at 11 MPHc it has served me well for my 60 to 150 mile daily drives. (Only 15 miles from a supercharger so if I need fast...)My biggest concern is seeing a lot of videos about Telo. So by logic it’s better to nose in than back in. Unless you own a tuner…

Because EV charging stations generally don't support pull through options, if someone is towing a trailer (something I plan to do with my Telo) you must unhitch your load to charge, whereas if you had the location in the front, you can pull in forward, charge and be on your way. If EV's trucks are going to compete for general contractors you've got to think about the user experience when towing.

I’ve asked this before in less articulate fashion, but could there be a possibility of two different body types, one being optimized for aero, and the other for balance and cargo volume? The latter would be what you’re already making. For the former you could reduce the frontal area substantially by removing the skateboard pack and placing the batteries under seats (even the front ones like Lucid Gravity), under the center console, behind or in front of the cabin (like where the Rivian gear tunnel is), or a combination of them all. I imagine a lot of people wanting more range at the cost of some cargo volume, even if the bed starts a little high, the center of gravity is a bit higher, or they lose the center console storage.
