Hey very informative and in depth video, nicely done!, I obviusly heard about the outage but I never got the info that there was a problem with a Kernal let alone CrowdStrike, really goes to show how little it takes to end up with Trilions worth of damage in the IT world. But then wile this is the first time such an outage happend, I do remember some Windows Update bricking most PCs that installed it, also a Kernal bug that they could not remove if I recall correctly (no idea when this happend tho).

I'm hoping the blame isn't pushed onto one team and or one individual. Hoping everyone involved a speedy recovery.

Seriously, don't fire the tech for wiping a computer YOU left in the wiping area, people need to stop scapegoating technical positions when leadership barely even understands what they are doing.

Considering it was a config file it likely was 1 person.

Crowdstrike broke the golden rule nr1 in software development :ALWAYS TEST BEFORE DEPLOY! Also you preferably don't test by pushing it to any customers at all but you instead do the testing on a bunch of machines that are just for testing purposes and internal to the company like u have some Windows machines, some Macs and some Linux machines at the QA department and you test on all of these computers before pushing it out. This is esp important with such as a critical software as this is. At Crowdstrike they however seem to have no QA department at all but instead tests everything in production - just asks for a disaster to happen!

At around 4:00 you're talking about blue screen of death to people who don't know what it is and defining it in a really scary way, often times blue screens are nothing more than overheating or something simple like that and don't result in a bricked machine. Just recommending to be more careful about language addressed to users because this kind of impression will give someone a heart attack lol.

The problem too is we rely on only major operating system aka Microsoft. I think businesses will start to look at Linux or even Macs for there work. I know I have switched using Macs and Linux only.

misleading to say "bricked". It was not an irrecoverable failure.
