Honestly while I had fun with Origins and Odyssey (I haven't played Valhalla yet), the RPG aspect ruined assassinations and stealth, especially in Odyssey with the increased level cap. It's such a hassle to do when enemies are just bullet sponges. So more often than not you're forced into combat because you can only take off half of someone's health, or only a little bit more with equipment buffs.
@drgnmstr442 жыл бұрын
@@rabidbunnyman1678 that's my issues with Origins and Odyssey. The enemies level up so fast that gear becomes obsolete and assassinations aren't really a thing. these games seemed to avoid that aspect in favor of a more action style combat. I really feel in those games it was created that way to push MTX on the players. while I didn't mind the minor ones for maps and such, I hated the material ones becuase they made it a grind fest solely to push MTX. hopefully future titles don't do this.

@ftrwrwbg2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s a very popular opinion, but the modern day story is a big part of what initially got me invested in the series. There are hundreds of games where I can be an assassin, but being in a order of assassins that have machines capable of viewing their ancestors memories and dealing with the affects of an ancient civilization that were the foundation of all the religions of the world is pretty unique. So it has been sad for me to see the modern day plot get shoved further and further into the trash to the point that Juno was killed in a damn comic book and vanished from the games after years of being set up as a main villain. Now that they announced the modern day stuff will be removed from games entirely it really kills most of the little interest I still had.

Assassins Creed was born on the edge of what we thought was greatness. The first game was a symbol of freedom and adventure, and what was to come in gamings future. 15 years later and we’ve barely come much further from where we started in terms of mechanics. Graphics have improved a bit sure, but we’ve been spinning the wheels for quite a while in terms of innovation because while games are getting more expensive to create, the corporate fat cats refuse to fund anything that isn’t pretty much guaranteed to sell. It’s not that they even play games to begin with, they’re just looking at spreadsheets and making decisions based on numbers. If we don’t put people in the hot seat with actual valid points on what gaming needs, I can foresee another great video game crash.

I enjoy every game in this series. I still own and play the main series titles and revisiting the Ezio Trilogy now. I loved playing all the games. Unity for me was disappointing since I never got to play it with other players mostly since I didn't play it when it released. I felt the game was fixed well enough to be fun but that experience in the co-op missions was not there for me. With Origins and Odyssey, the story was interesting. I liked seeing the origins of the Assassin Brotherhood and exploring ancient Greece. The biggest issue I find with these was how the RPG elements were introduced poorly to feed into the grinding of materials/MTX for materials to be on par with your enemies in the game. This was fixed in my opinion in Valhalla where the gear didn't really play much in to your power but the skill tree did. the fact you could remove skills and lower your power or swap things out easy made it better then the previous two, however Evior was not a true Assassin, choosing to work with them. As for the modern story many seem to dog on, I rather enjoyed it. I get everyone just wants to stay in the animus doing the places of the past and those are definitely the heart of the game and beautifully done. I do like the modern story and think it's used to tie the games together sort of but recently I'm not sure where it's going. With Layla and Desmond basically Essences in some thing trying to figure out how to permanently stop the reoccurring crisis. I'm certainly looking forward to the new titles in the series and will play them even if I don't really like the direction they are going to give it a chance and see what Ubisoft has in store for us. One tidbit I thought was interesting while playing Assassin's Creed 2 again. Darius is a stature there with the hidden blade and they included his story in Odyssey as DLC. I think we have bumped into the others but we did not actually see the one for Egypt when we played Origins since the hidden Ones supported Cleopatra if I recall correctly. just thought it was interesting to note.

I loved the original AC more than most, Brotherhood was my favorite until Black Flag came out, which is still my favorite to this day. I like the change to more of an action rpg on paper but in practice I just haven't enjoyed the last 3 games since the change. It might also have a lot to do with the obscene microtransactions baked into the interface of the pause menu but they just haven't held my attention. I want to find a middle ground. Something in between new and old styles. With a return to the older themes of the assassin order. Mirage looks like it might be that. I now know why people don’t like the present day storyline of AC games. It’s not just that it’s basic parkour/walking simulator. It’s also too hard for feeble minds to accept that the majority of their experience is a side story in a much larger tale. Let alone keep track of two separate plots Seriously, it’s fine once there’s no story and you get to just wobble around and read things? Umm no. In that case, you leave me in the animus Present day is the part that ties all the different games together and people just disregard it because of how boring the gameplay is. In my opinion the present storyline makes the entire franchise(the games that utilize that part anyway) much more interesting

The best part of the games from start to Assassin Creed 3, was the modern day story. The moment they strayed away from that and listened to people that wanted them to solely focus on being in the animus alone, ended any interest for players that were invested with that. Syndicate was the last good game for me. Origins, broke me. I haven't played a game since and I probably will never will since Ubisoft is scum and I will never support them again until the entire leadership is gutted from the company.

True... The modern games aren't AC games... They just ordinary MMORPG's...

I was fortunately able to transition my enjoyment to the most recent games. Origins was fun although it became repetitive, while Odyssey was amazingly good. With that said, though, they are much more open-world RPGs than stealth, very different from the games Syndicate and before (so I can certainly understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea), although stealth is still a big part of gameplay for those who want it to be.

The best one was in that episode where you were seal clapping with a dead expression for an extended time for whatever reason, i'd know the name but can't find the video of it anymore on your channel.

I played unity for the first time a couple years back after the patches at the cost of $2. So my perspective is different. However, I would say gameplay wise it managed to keep and Improve on core gameplay elements from the earlier AC games and really nailed the time and context for France. Just didn't connect with the overall story as much and missed Desmond's story still.

As much as I enjoy the modern AC gameplay, I do miss AC classic!
