You could talk about Jane Austen forever and I am here for it! My first Jane Austen read was Emma when I was 17 and I became obsessed in wanting to read e v e r y t h i n g by her and watched every adaptation I could find 🤗 now I am 33 and I re-read one book by her every year and can definitely say that it only gets better and better. My favourites are P&P, Emma and Persuation.

I'm also going to read The Vicar of Wakefield as a comtemporary-ish book of Jane Austen and Lady Susan, which I've never read. I also started with Jane Austen in my teens. I used to reread Persuasion and P&P a lot. I used to be irritated with Mrs Bennett until I became a parent myself and realized that of the two parents she was the only one who cared about her children's future even if she was superficial in other aspects. While Mr Bennett who was supposed to be her intellectual superior was quite careless about his daughters. Have you done a video about the parents of Jane Austen books? She certainly had a lot to say about them.

I didn't know it was Jane Austen July, but that's great! I just finished Northanger Abbey yesterday and enjoyed it more this second time around. I think it would been better if she worked on the ending more. Certainly there should be dialogue between Catherine and Tom when he meets up with her. It's almost as if she was tired of the novel by then and just gave a synopsis of events, which I found tedious to read. But I enjoyed the rest of the novel! Now onto another for a second go...I enjoyed your video, very engaging.
@katiejlumsden4 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) Jane Austen is great. I do agree about the end of Northanger Abbey - this was actually not published until the year after Jane Austen's death, so I do wonder if she would have changed the ending a little if she'd lived to work on it more.

I can't read very fast and Emma is longer than Northanger Abbey. Also I will read The Beautiful Cassandra, Longbourn, and poetry by William Cowper. I have yet to decide on the non-fiction biography as there are so many good ones. Also I will watch Northanger Abbey and Clueless.
