I had a health scare last year that made me think a lot about my possessions. I am also an action figure collector. After some deep thinking, I kept thinking what happens to all these possessions if I was to get sick and possibly worse case not live from this health condition. After, I started getting rid of possessions in my house cause I felt this is what I needed to do . But It got me to thinking.... why do we own possessions and collect them in our house or apartments? What's the purpose of owning possessions if someday we will pass some day ? Nothing is permeant, but why do we collect things thinking we will live forever and get to enjoy them forever. I remember watching Fight Club and hearing that classic line in the movie. " You don't own things... things own you " I believe that material possessions keep humans from doing things they might love. I have been looking into Vanlife the last two years after my health scare. Seeing people living with just what they need opened my eyes on how much time and money people waste just to buy stuff to pack into their homes just to make themselves feel comfortable and happy. Thus, one day, we all will leave this planet... so.. why work work work work and waste money just to acquire objects? Am I the only person who thinks like this?

I hear you. I agree 100 percent. I became more minimalist in my life and it really takes the clutter away, mentally not just physically. I still have to declutter some but since I've done what I've done so far, my head is a lot clearer. We can't take it with us so why try to acquire things that serve no purpose in the afterlife? Now nature makes me happy. My furbabies make me happy.Family makes me happy. My spiritual journey makes me happy. Those are the real things a person needs and very minimal physical possessions. Take care. Blessings to you

Great take on minimalism! I started my journey into it some years ago, and have gotten rid of most my possessions. I have roughly what would fit inside a van comfortably... long story! Not going to bore anyone here with that LOL 😄 I know how difficult it can be for people around you to 'get' the choice that you made. For one, it takes me weeks to purchase something (not talking about items we use every day), sometimes one or two months. After that time, if I really need it, or want it, then I will buy it. I fell in love with an 'Encanto' doll (Bruno Madrigal) and my mom couldn't understand why I wouldn't just buy it. After a couple of weeks thinking if I really wanted the doll in my space, I finally bought it. Thanks for sharing your insights 🌻 P.S. The book that I read about minimalism is 'Goodbye Things' by Fumio Sasaki. I strongly recommend 👍🏼

Hey man! just what I needed - a Bren catchup! Sorry to hear you're a bit under the weather, but it was nice to see your face and hear how you're going. Hopefully you can put out another video next week, even if it is just a chat and catch up without all your editing skills, just to keep the workload down for yourself. We all appreciate the videos, even if they aren't heavily edited. Stay safe! Nick

Great topic! You make great points about the presence of physical and mental clutter in our lives. Things and thoughts take up space that could be better used for more valuable things like time. It takes practice and is something I’m intentional about. I’m watching for that 1000 subscriber mark! ☮️

We all have too much. As a kid, we got a pair of shoes in the fall for school, but we wore them out before new ines came again!we even had them so,Ed, and new metal taps to save them! Used shoe polish too! Today, kids are greedy. We wore sandals or flip flops in summer. Loved them! Lol!

I am a world traveler. By necessity I condensed my worldly possessions to fit into a medium suitcase, a small suitcase, and a carryon bag. I found that I have everything I need. Minimalism is liberating. My fashion addiction means that I actually still have excess clothes and shoes.

Minimalism is not the same for everyone. As I said in the video, it’s not just about physical items for me but also about unnecessary thoughts and relationships too. Minimalism to me is letting go of things/thoughts/people that do not serve me in any way or bring me joy. Also, everything that I own in my life (physically) is in my car and in a very small closet at my sisters house so I don’t know how that isn’t minimal lol. Cute dog btw, looks like Master Splinter!
