Thank you so much, Martin! This presentation is a top notch lesson for me, A+. I might be close to understanding how I will be managing the new boat, (a Rosborough), you're a huge help!!

Electricians may nit pic on some of this video, but you really didn't say anything terminal. This is a good all around video for both RV and Boats. Probably one of the best easy to understand (novice) video I've seen.

Thanks for watching!! Next week's video is about upgrading to Firefly Oasis batteries and moving the batteries to the cockpit storage area. The Firefly batteries are about as close to LiON as you can get without actually going to LiON.

The eco flow solar gen could be charged with a portable solar panel or topped off with shore power in 1.5 hours. If just used for coffee pot loads and hair dryer on low the unit would really extend the boat house power batteries. I think my 435 volvo diesel in my cutwater should charge it via the 2000 w inverter. Time will tell when i start using my boat again next may 2021. I enjoy all your videos. Thank you

That EcoFlow 1300 looks impressive. Basically, a 105Ah battery that you can use 80% of, that only weighs 30lbs and comes with an inverter as well! And can be recharged in under 2 hours when on shorepower! While we hadn't specifically looked at devices such as this, we did briefly look at fuel cells as well. Another way to provide charge to the batteries when the sun isn't out and without running the engine. In playing with my spreadsheet/calculator, we concluded that the FIrefly batteries would give us the extra capacity we needed, plus an upgrade to solar charging. After that, we should just be able to idle the engine for an hour or two a day at most, if needed at all, and meet our electrical needs. We're glad you're enjoying our video's. We spent some time this past Saturday out on the boat filming with our new 360 degree camera. That's going to help us capture even more interesting content from the boat, and of the boat.

Tom - I am also thinking of going with the ecoflow over a generator - I will let everyone know or maybe even do a video when I get it. I have to sleep with a CPAP and I like the idea of quite vs generator. Also love the videos. I own the Rangers more sporty cousin a Cutwater 242

Thanks for watching! We have another video coming out week after next, specifically on the electronics where I show that dashboard, as well as several others I've created. In addition, I go over the XM weather, a little bit on sonar, and radar.

Have you considered using the ecoflow delta 1300 as an additional power supply you could plug items into it with a extenstion cord. It would not be hooked into the boat shorepower system..
@Letsgochannelsurfing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching!! We hadn't looked at things like the Echoflow Delta 1300. However, when we're planning several overnights on the boat at anchor, we stock up on LiON portable battery packs for all our electronic needs. We usually have several of Anker's 20,000mAh batteries onboard. They'll charge our phones, iPads/Android tablets several times which keeps us from using the USB ports on the boat. We also have a portable JBL boombox that's LiON powered and bluetooth. It'll run for 12 hours on a charge. The AC needs of ours when at sea are minimal. Once we're finished upgrading our solar panel and solar controller were hoping that'll take care of our electrical needs.

Martin on those boats with an onboard generator, are there any limits to what you could run, like A/C for example on an LE model?
@Letsgochannelsurfing Жыл бұрын
Not many of them come with an onboard generator. The early model (2018-2020) LE models might have a gasoline generator installed by the factory. In all other instances, if you brought your own portable generator onboard and found a way to safely run it (CO poisoning), they will run the air conditioning easily.

Just curious about your kicker I troll most of the time I have a 9.9 I believe it puts out 5-12 amps is your kicker electric start? Might be more efficient to run than the 300hp
@Letsgochannelsurfing3 жыл бұрын
Great question and thanks for watching!! The T9.9 kicker has an 8amp alternator. It is electric start also. It's more efficient to run than the F300 if I'm looking at fuel consumption. 5kts on the kicker at 1gph is better than what the F300 would do. But for electrical, the 8amp alternator means I have to be at 3/4 throttle to break-even on the electrical needs of the boat (refrigerators, chart plotter, radar, sounder, etc..). Usually when I'm running the kicker and we're doing like, 2 or 3 kts I see the house bank slowly draining. Of course, if it's sunny out, the solar panels help a lot when on the kicker.
@lou1983 жыл бұрын
That’s actually pretty good speed out of a 9.9 is it because it’s a displacement hull at low speed or is that a special high torque kicker?

The new spreadsheet will be discussed in our upcoming power management/Battery monitor discussion to be released in 2 weeks.
