Yes, and she gives hope to other doggies. I remember when other 'scary' dogs came to the farm and needed to wear a muzzle. Most of the pack would steer clear of them. But not Shadow. She would encourage them, as if to say, "Don't worry, it's not permanent. If I could do it, you can too." Love that Shadow girl.

When you think about her past..... being tied up and left to die it's understandable how aggressive and mistrusting she was towards people, and certainly no love for other dogs, but thankfully, here she is with her truly loving forever family whom never gave up on her. I still remember Luke's face after assessing Shadow's behavior that first day...he looked unspeakably sad because even he doubted she could be saved. It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch, and I will never forget it. As they said here, knowing Shadow's story (and for me, remembering Luke's face) makes her happy new life even more joyous to see. I've heard Luke talk about a dog being able to relax and just be a dog at the Farm. That's what I see with Shadow and so many of the other dogs. Once they realize that they are in a safe place, with people that they can trust, and a pack leader who teaches and encourages them to be their best selves, it's like they just slough off all of the anti-social behaviors that they learned to survive. They heave a big sigh and can just be and it's beautiful. Sometimes I wish there was a place like that for humans!

I will always remember (and have a chuckle) when Luke said she is the best at hiding in plain sight. He said one time he gave her a command, she ignored him and got up and walked around the corner of the house. He went to get her to bring her back for a redo and he couldn't find her. I think he said he walked around the house 4 times and then he saw her quietly sitting in the flower bed. He asked her if she had been sitting there the whole time. If so, he had walked past her multiple times. She was thinking out of sight out of mind. She is a doll!

I just adore her. When Luke did that video when he thought she might be too serious and rehab might be too much. I just sobbed and hoped. When he came back and he was just going to give her is all - as he does all the dogs - I was so relieved. When she reached that softening stage. That opening. The relinquishing control...it was beautiful and so quickly she was just the warm and loving cheeky Staffy she was meant to be. All the rehab dogs show that change is possible when there is love, time and safety. Good girl Shadow! ♥️♥️

When she first came and Luke did his assessment, I was like oh boy. Minnie, arial, and princess were by the front gate. They had a look on their faces like " don't move, maybe she won't see us". When she graduated from her training, she was a different dog. If people question your techniques tell them to watch her assessment and then look at her now. I love how she has formed a relationship with her daughters. I remember when they had to be removed from her. The best thing that I like is the relationship ALL the dogs have with the kids. They are just one big pack that cherishes each other.

I had heard about fighting dogs being rehabilitated, but had never witnessed it. Luke was a huge part of her transformation, but I give lots of credit to Shadow as well for listening to what Luke was saying and then fully embracing her new roll as loving pack Mum to everyone there. I remember a day where Wolfie was crawling around outside, and Shadow walked up beside him and gave him a single lick on his left cheek. She then walked around behind him and did it again on his right cheek. After that she looked back at Sam and you could see the caring in her eyes. She has still got a mischievous way about her ( Whose been licking the soup Shadow? ), and it seems to have been passed down to her daughters as well which adds to all of their charm.

If anything can show why what you do with all the dogs is so critically important, it's looking at the story of Shadow. Thinking back on the way she was when you first brought her in - so angry and so afraid of everyone and everything. You even had to separate her from her babies! Honestly, if "Biography" ever did shows on dogs (and they certainly SHOULD) then Shadow should be at the top of the list. In fact, make it a two-parter and make it the story of Shadow, Violet, and Red. I'll want to order a copy of the DVD!

Her change from being so aggressive, willing to go after any dog including Freddo in her first few videos to now letting out the full on staffy nanny mother hen mode is so great. A lot of great clips of her recently, helping Ms Red try to get Violet to play, running interference w/ all the other youngsters & I saw a good 1 w/ Cruiser a few clips back where Him & Rover started to rough house, she was going towards them when you called Rover off & Cruiser turned to her like he was going to try to get her to play but she gave a little chest thump paw stomp move telling him "Boy don't try me dad said no so knock it off" & Cruiser took the cue right away.

Yes!!! You have nailed the formula for Videos for me. Sam and Luke together educating us and making us smile. I can't think of anything else you could do to improve. I find that I am now very interested in the different attributes and personalities of the different dog breeds, especially the working dogs. The field trip to "Master of Puppies" was very interesting. Any possibility of a field trip or invitation to the farm for dogs and their people that work together everyday. I'm thinking of the dogs that work with livestock, scent dogs that rescue, recover and discover what we humans want found. Also dogs that guard other animals, dogs that naturally act as support animals for us damaged humans. Thank you for all you do.
