I don't think wuk Lamar is confident at all. She was shaking after fighting the colibri and was trying to boast to appear more confident and capable. I think that's why she needs help from the scions, to get the experience and confidence she currently lacks. That's also why she asked for eorzeas most capable warrior, someone to learn from. She knows that person who wanted to conquer garlemald cannot win and her scholarly brother is also someone she might disagree with.
