Thanks for a great video. I like to use lavender as a filler. The silver leaves look nice with pink and white flowers and smell is wonderful!

I have used carrot tops (lasted 3-4 days), parsley when it starts to bolt (still green), cosmos (just the leaves), raspberry, heavenly bamboo, any herb, dusty miller, I will try just about anything.

I love to use spirea too. One I was blown away by was pink splash weigela- all season long. With blooms or with varigated foliage the rest of summer. I would make bouquets using the spirea, weigela and dusty miller together. Wow I loved the contrast. I need dark foliage this next year. I'm excited to try the mahogany splendor hibiscus and elderberry foliage. Thanks for the videos.

I think your spirea may be called Magic Carpet. I live in zone 3 and have shrubs that look like yours.

Love all the green 🌱 It's been hard for me to remember that I need around 60% foliage to the 40% focal flowers! Hi from Cincinnati!

It is hard for me to remember as well! Sometimes seems easier to grow the focals than the foliage.

Thanks for mentioning spirea. I didn’t know that it makes a good cut. One of my favorite’s is Ninebark💜

Hi! I recently found your channel and I love it. We are in a similar situation-just growing in a yard. We moved into our space in 2019 and there wasn’t much established here besides some white peonies (yay!), but I am definitely working on establishing a lot of shrubs and perennials that I can use for fillers and foliage. I’ve added: nepeta, yarrow, anise hyssop, sedum, baptisia, ninebark, forsythia, viburnum, hydrangea, and I will be adding a spirea shrub soon! Plus a lot of others once I make space by removing more lawn. I have a small urban yard and kids who want to use some of it, so it’s all about strategic placement and selection-I can’t just grow a huge hedge of stuff like I see actual flower farmers doing. 😊

A new foliage I’m growing this year is called willow peppermint eucalyptus. It’s on Johnny’s site. I ordered it back in November and they were out of stock as far as the small packets (which would have been way more than I could need) but I ended up buying the 250 pack because I was afraid they would not have the small packs in stock before I would need to start them. I would be glad to send you some if you would want to try them as well! Let me know!

❤️Great info, I want to grow cerinth! Have you ever tried cress, I love it, very light and airy with neat little green pearls (seeds)! I also use a lot of bushes and branches like spirea also (I have a couple of the pink like yours and I don’t know the name, and I have a row of the white all along the front of my property, it’s a huge row of 50 bushes) and honeysuckle, privet, wild cherry tree, all things that grow on my acreage! Good luck this summer, I’m gonna go check out your filler flower clip now! 🌸👩‍🌾

Thank you so much! Cress is native here so it's basically everywhere in the spring. It is lovely for sure! Fresh and dried.

Does the coleus have stem length? I love it and finally started some seed this year but I was under the impression that it was more of a ground cover. I am happy to see this. I have also used hosta leaves that have longer stems in arrangements and it looked nice. I am in Illinois zone 5b

If you keep pinching the flowers, coleus can get nearly 2 feet tall! Experiment and let me know what you think.
