Hi Mike, I know you may already know this, but being a New Holland combine tech, I must say the CR combine does not have a shear bolt or coupler on their rotors, not saying they don't have issues from time to time with a bolt falling out, but pretty bullet proof design, still rooting you try out a CR one day!

Words of warning Mike. Oily crops such as Soybeans, canola and such crops start fire easily in a drier. Use very low heat, and be mindful of the wind direction. So the wind doesn't blow any fodder coming out of the dryer, doesn't get blown around and sucked back in and get blown over the flame and sparks get blown into the grain column.

Hi from oz mike. Never heard of shear couplers. On modern balers there are things called torque clutches. When there is jam or blockage these go of with godawfull racket. As they slow down to reset they impart more torque to blockage and force it through. They totally replace shear pins in drive lines. And I love them.

Slip clutches
@Rcod2013
@Rcod2013 Жыл бұрын
No. You are wrong. They do not have clutch plates at all. They have spring loaded balls that sit in hollows. When overloaded balls forced out of hollow and drive side rotates around driven side till revs slow down and force of springs rengages balls into hollows with more torque. If seased will not rengage. Go and learn about cam (or torque) clutches before making that type of comment.

@davidthorne2129 Slip Clutch/Disengagement Torque Limiter: Slip clutches or torque limiters disengage the drive in the event of jamming or overload. They have a threshold torque and are used for personal safety and equipment protection

@davidthorne2129 this is exactly what you are talking about.
@Rcod2013
@Rcod2013 Жыл бұрын
You just don’t get it. Torque clutches DO NOT SLIP. They disengage. They do not have wear material discs in between metal discs. They look totally different to slip clutches. You cannot adjust the torque setting by tightening clamp springs. The torque setting is done at manufacture and can only be changed by complete disassembly and adding or taking out balls and springs. They look similar to overrun clutches. I’ve had to replace all types over the years. Again SLIP CLUTCH IS DIFFERENT TO TORQUE CLUTCH.

I've told people that lentils are our hardest grind through at harvest time, and those who've never done lentils find that hard to believe for a crop that's 10" tall. Heat and glyphosate usually does a good job getting lentils to die and dry down. Usually. But I expect buyers will stop accepting glyphosate on lentils in the near future.
@blinkybagger8342

Reminds me of breaking sheer bolt on a john deere baler growing up. Was hot, dusty, itching and you had to unplug the baler to replace. Was almost as bad as plugging the feeder house on a f2 gleaner. Crawl under the throat and pull material out the bottom door as dirt etc went down your shirt in your face, eyes etc.. Agree that there should never be a coupler, bolt etc that breaks in a rotor. Why can't they put a slip clutch on the end of the shaft? That would keep it from destroying the rotor imo. Short similar story shelling corn using a Gleaner R65. Told my father to slow down the rear tail spinner as to not throw corn cobs etc onto my yard and along side ditch grass......plugged the rear of the combine as a result and slipped / smoked the belt. Belt was fine till we switched back to soybeans and it snapped. Was a new combine and that was a $400 lesson lol Live and learn what not to do.

It didn’t affect him in the slightest. It just killed everything green he pee’d on! It is far less poisonous than common salt! The problem is that we are now able to detect far smaller concentrations than we used to in our food. This is what is giving it a bad name.
