The main problems I see with this game is that your deck is way to big, meaning you can easily get screwed if all the cards that give you something you need are at the bottom. You also don’t get much deck control; most cards are just added to your deck automatically.

Small Trade seems to be a complete trap to me. For the cost of two cards (the card itself, and one your discard), you draw one card, and increase the trouble meter by 1. First, just clicking the NEXT DAY button also draws you 1 card and increases the trouble meter by 1. Second, had you not had the Small Trade card in your deck, you simply would have drawn the later card 1 card draw sooner anyway. And that compounds every time your deck is reshuffled. Maybe there are some very niche situations that may come up, where you badly need to discard cards rather then just keeping them in your hand, and being able to combo that with effectively hitting 'next day' without reducing your disaster OR red card counters, but such situations feel like they'd be rare enough that the pain of dilluting your deck with the card is never worth it.

I believe it's meant to be a starter-level discard activator. It's bad certainly, but does activate discards

I'm not all the way through the stream yet, but I imagine it gets some use when you have access to oil. Oil barrels, among other cards, have a different effect if you discard it.

It's great for getting rid of ⚠cards that you likely don't want to play, but can't destroy (Like Double Trouble, Blackout, etc)

So the Relic you were thinking of for Slay the Spire was called Velvet Choker. And while it isnt for every run, (some its very detrimental to,) there are some decks where you dont mind playing slow and its very beneficial.

35:45 It's not card advantage, but it is card draw, in that it lets you dig through your deck faster. Given the size of the deck and the specificity of the cards, that seems worthwhile

@@supekele technically it provides 1 extra draw (since you only draw 1 card per day normally). It's a deck cycling mechanic which Quill didn't appreciate that @YourXavier was mentioning.

I think it's meant as a discarding activator. Anyhow that +1 counter is pretty bad.

@@gregresnik1830 A card that lets you draw 1 doesn't increase card draw. The card you draw is what you would have already drawn if you didn't draw the draw 1 card. Can be useful if you have to take a card and its an option because it results in a net 0 cards per reshuffle instead of +1. But its a card added when you play another card. So its a bad card that just keeps adding more bad cards per reshuffle.

I'm with the Small Trade crowd, but that's because my first instinct upon trying a new deck builder is to take anything that gives card velocity

Card velocity isn’t really a thing in this game as far as I can tell from the video, but maybe there are buildings that care about it later. Importantly though it’s not card advantage so it’s only useful if you have something good to proc by discarding-so until we find that it’s strictly a waste of a card

On the contrary, I believe it makes it a lot more fun and realistic, as I believe videos that are edited to be more fun are mostly too childish

I personally think it's part of the charm of the unedited videos, gives them a different feel to the created specifically for KZbin videos. Plus I think it would be a lot of work for Quill to stream, create videos for KZbin AND edit livestreams to then upload again
