Still not correct. It moved to Irwindale in 2005. From Wikipedia: "In 1989, RPFS was moved to the Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore, California; and finally in 2005 to its present location, the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, California."

Why the fantasy connotation during rein fair? Never understood, rein was a time of resurgence of science and craft, not dungeons and dragons.

I think it's much less about accuracy and more about people simply being who or what they want for a day. It also helps that most DnD characters dress like it is that time period. I don't see lots of folks getting shut down in the streets for their historically inaccurate furry costume or even their Star Trek uniform. People just having fun around other people, ya know?
