Yes, this is a fast-paced, fun adventure story. It's as close as we may ever get to an adaptation of the Han Solo novels by Brian Daley from back in the 1970s. And it's definitely the most underrated of the "Star Wars" movies.

I think there were more one-off films originally conceived, but only Solo and Rogue One really panned out. Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally going to be a movie at one point, but then changed into the Disney+ limited series that I personally found quite engaging and worth watching.

Yes the rumour is a younger recasted Leia film and even younger but recasted Luke film were being developed but this Solo film flopped so they were quickly cancelled due to fears of recasting the characters being the reason it did poorly. So we only got Obi Wan and as a show rather than as a film.

Love Solo! And great reaction! Personally, I think all the new films are great and I would have loved to see another Solo movie but you must watch Rogue One and it's prequel Andor (not sure in which order) but the Disney movies are awesome, don't let the haters put you off.

Like many films, there are deleted scenes -there is one on the blu-ray, where you can view Han as a pilot in the Imperial flying corps'. Much of this film was reshot, original Directors replaced, as the script was not followed -so, we will likely never see the original edit,....yet, this is a fine film (IMO) and quality edition to the SW universe! The Winter mountain region is in north Italy - mountains where in World War 1, Italy fought the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I've visited the region, based in Asiago, with battles and graves up to 7-thousand feet of mountains. The desert island near end is in The Canary Islands. SW films in great locations!

This film and 'Rogue One', as well as the 'Andor' tv show, are all modified versions of scripts from George Lucas's unreleased tv series, called 'Star Wars Underworld'. This film was directed by Lucas friend Ron Howard. So you're partially still in the Lucas era, even though he was not involved, this is what he wanted. NOTE: The prequels are fine as they are, they're considered the best usually by directors, writers and artists. Your initial reactions had a better understanding of the films than after you read the comments. Some people think you need something else to understand them or are bullied into disliking them, but the truth is that even though they're CRAFTED TO SEEM simpler, they're much more complex than the originals. Anakin and Padme's story for example, is not a love story at all. It's a passion story, of possession and mostly lust of immature people who had been excluded from social experiences and norms all of their life. They didn't fell in love, they were obsessed with each other because they had no one else, and that's what they discovered in their time together.

I agree that Kenobi was not that good, sadly they wasted it really bad and I feel really sorry for Hayden and Ewan, they really deserved much better but there are a lot of really great moments in it and it is really nice to see the boys back at it again.. That being said you should absolutely watch them, make up your own mind about it instead of adopt someone else's opinion.

Abby, I'm glad you watched this relatively fun one after the trauma demonstrated in EPISODE III... like a palate cleanser. This takes place about a decade after the birth of 'Luke' and 'Leia'. I urge you to watch the live-action OBI-WAN KENOBI (2022) tv series next. It occurs at the same time and you'll be so glad you did. I hope you'll watch all of the canonical tv series and movies... and eventually the animated ones, too. There are precious gems in each of them... if you keep watching with an open heart and open mind, as I've seen you do. I've watched all of your STAR WARS reactions today. You've earned my subscription. I promise there are more reasonable, kind-hearted enthusiasts than there are disgruntled, small-minded bullies who think of themselves as fans. @@AbbyJaneReacts You're very welcome. 🫂 ANDOR is my favorite of all. It starts about three or four years after OBI-WAN KENOBI, if you're trying to keep them chronological. The second and final season is set to premiere in 2025 and will take viewers right up to the beginning of EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE. It's also good to know that ANDOR is the only one made for adults, as in it's paced for a thoughtful, mature person. All the rest are aimed at kids, but with enough frills that appeal to grownups, as well. I think you're gonna love your journey through the galaxy far, far away. 🌌

abby , i had the action figures from the 1980s and han's pants had a yellow stripe down the side, and i thought those look like police pants, and i thought maybe he used to work for the empire, and that is how met chewie, because i knew that the empire used his people as slaves to build things for them, if you want you can watch the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978 or 1979, it deals with that issue, it was on tv one night instead of the incredible Hulk tv show, and they never released it on vhs or dvd, people had to record it off tv and trade copies at comic book conventions, that is how i got a copy, it is on youtube now, but make sure you find a copy with a cartoon in the middle, some versions leave the cartoon out.

abby in Dryden's office , was a set of Mandalorian armor, in the 1980s, there was a rumor that Boba Fett ,the bounty hunter that caught him on cloud city , was a woman, they were complaining to darth vader the most feared person, that they didhn't want han killed, that he meant a lot to them alive, no bounty hunter cared that much, i thought that meant they were a former lover trying to protect him.and this movie showed that Boba Fett could have been Qira, in disguise

I sometimes find it difficult to understand how some people can actually like this movie...or any disney Star Wars movie for that matter, but then I remember that people have different tastes and preferences. I will say though, that this movie was the first Star Wars movie to EVER lose money...losing over 100 million dollars!

Yep. Technically tho it was the 1st LIVE ACTION star wars film. Remember that animated clone wars film? But it was more so a pilot for the show and the clone wars cartoon show was so successful it feels like that film is forgotten. But yep, 1st actual box office flop of any live action star wars film to not make its full budget back. It had major ramifications too on the future of star wars scaring Kennedy from recasting the original trilogy characters and scrapping allegedly plans for a young Leia film and young Luke film. It's kinda 1 of the most important star wars films from the business side of these films. Mainly for it not being able to have the success Kennedy thought it was going to have

Disney wanted to make many more "anthology movies" separate from the trilogies but after Last Jedi came out and had a backlash, Solo was boycotted and flopped. So those subsequent anthology movies were scrapped and turned into series such as Kenobi or Boba Fett/Mandalorian and Andor. Rogue One was successful beforehand, and you'll see why... As it stands, Solo is not that bad, production was Hell though because the guys behind The Lego Movie were supposed to make it, began and then Lucasfilm (Kathleen Kennedy) stopped it because it seems that they were going for a full comedy... Ron Howard was hired to finish the movie, reshooting shots in 80% of the movie, making it more serious. It's not the movie of the century but it's definitely whatchable and a fun ride. Rogue One is much better, though. Wookies were not slaughtered, they were enslaved by the crime syndicates or the Empire, many of them went to build the second Death Star, hence why it was built so fast compared to the first one. Sabacc is like Star Wars Poker, and here on Earth most professional Poker players cheat, so... I'll let you draw your own conclusion. L3 being part of the ship is the reason C3PO finds the Falcon's computer to have a very peculiar language... Satying safe means to stay inside the dedicated Hyperspace Lanes that are proved to be safe... If you go off road, you'll have to face the music, just as in out world. Marauder: someone who wanders around and raids random people for their possessions. Google is your friend. Of course Han was always the good guy but he had to develop some armor to protect that part of himself from the nasty world around.

Unfortunately its because this film made less $ than Disney wanted so it scared them into not msking these "side quest" films. There is a fear of failure that was caused by this film not making enough $. I agree these films i thiught regardless of liked or disliked, did offer some cool new stories that coukd be told outside of the skywalker family. Like having a princess leia film or a mace windo film or a qui gon film on solo adventures I feel would've been fun

@@Limebradley idk I kinda like how star wars right now is just mainly shows. Imo the prequel films would've been more liked if they were a show where we can really see the characters fall in love, start to become enemies, and see palps outsmart the Jedi. It's why I think I the clone wars show is so popular it has the time to tell those stories and not just be action. But I agree with you some of the shows could use some rewrites to improve. Imo some of the shows just feel a little rushed like they needed more time to do what they needed to do but had to meet deadlines. But I did like some of the shows and I like how they have more time to tell a story vs a 2 hour-2.5 hour film. I really liked Andor but there's no way it could be a film. So many great scenes would have to be cut out and it'd feel completely different if it were a movie.

I haven't watched this one, so haven't watched your reaction just in case I decide to watch it in the future. Of all the SW characters Han Solo was the one I never really liked despite enjoying many of Harrison Ford's roles (particularly Blade Runner), so I'm not biased against the actor, just this particular character, and I'm assuming he isn't in this movie anyway but the character is still much the same? I'm hoping Rogue One is next before you watch 7, 8 & 9? xxx

My channel (obviously) attracts some bizarre comments from time to time, but I knew what I was in for so just delete them. It has been a baptism of fire to start your channel with Star Wars as you knew there are strong opinions, but it's much the same for Star Trek and Stargate fans. If forced to choose I'd say I'm a Trekkie (particularly the DS9 and Voyager series) but also love the Stargate SG1 and Universe series. I think it would have been better if Disney had not bought the Star Wars franchise mostly because they are trying to cash in on Lucas's work with all the spin-off series, and I feel they are trying to exploit me with "You're not a real fan if you don't watch this series or that series." Grr... So I'm a fan who hasn't watched all of it. :)

I think this film didn't do well because it was released in May. All the other Kathleen Kennedy/Disney Star wars films were released on Christmas day in cinemas. Ep 7, Rogue One, and ep 8. So Christmas dsy for 2015, 2016, and 2017. Then in 2018 this film was the only star wars film that year and was released in May instead of on Christmas Day. Maybe I'm wrong but imo fans got used to watching a star wars film with friends and family for the holidays and then out of nowhere this film was released st the start of summer movie season. It also was released during a time when many fans started to get very upset with how Kathleen Kennedy/Disney was managing star wars at the time And also it was released during a busy movie season with lots of other films people going to go see instead like Avengers Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

Unfortunately with your introduction, Anakin was too old to begin Temple training. His only path to being a Jedi was starting as a Padawan Learner, and Obi-Wan was the only Jedi that would take him. It's also difficult to not comment on things you have said, regarding the franchise, when you've said you may or may not watch something. I'll pitch another Euro into the pot and say, watch the Clone Wars. It's going to answer so many questions.

Kathleen Kennedy made these 2 films to kinda be a way to gain new fans into star wars while ep 7,8,9 were being made. Kinda just 1 off, anyone even people eho aren't star wars fans, can watch as kinda breathers in between the sequel trilogy. Obviously also for $ and so fans could watch these films on the years that the sequel trilogy films were being filmed. But also again to kikds of give audiences some variety and kinda experiment with films that didn't require watching ep 1-6.

Unfortunately this film was the first ever live action star wars film to "flop" or not make enough $ to pay for its budget, marketing budget, etc. it was such a wake up call that it ended these "A Star Wars Story" side adventure films up until now. To give you some context, Lucas sold Lucasfilm which includes all he owned of star wars so all 6 films and the clone wars show to Disney. However he did make it so a woman/colleague/friend/etc. named Kathleen Kennedy was the president or person in charge of lucasfilm. She has basically been in charge of Star Wars ever since Lucas sold it in 2012. She and her husbsnd were very close to Kucas since the 1980's and worked with Lucas for decades again sikce the 1980's. She can be thought of as being kinda Lucas' apprentice or padawan. All the star wars films you watch from this film until films released now are star wars films made by her. She was a producer on films since the 1980's so she has a lomg resume of films shes been apart of making. Cheers! Darth Maul survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi through his intense hatred and the dark side of the Force, which allowed him to cling to life and eventually rebuild himself with cybernetic legs. His survival was driven by his sheer will to live and seek revenge against Obi-Wan Kenobi.
