Hey guys! I just found this lying around at home.
I couldn't just keep this to myself!
This is Paul Gilbert explaining his Pink 7string PGM and playing this song. This was shot the same day I joined Paul on Stage to Jam with him! Check out my other vids!
Hope you enjoy this!

A bunch of friends and I were discussing guitarist of his caliber, and one guy mentioned something that is so true. Paul is so explosive. I can’t really think of anyone else that is faster, but he explodes into his fast licks much faster than most.

Just amazing. Paul has the rare combo of great musical taste combined wilt inhuman abilities on the guitar. I'm not into the whole shred thing at all, I'm into jazz and blues, but he really takes it to another level, like Holdsworth, Gambale or Mclaughlin.

Exactly. Paul must not have had too much say in it, cause he seems to really appreciate his fans, and I'm sure he'd be on board for a regular production model for the fans, even if it had to sacrifice some minor things. And I hadn't really realized that they discontinued the 301 until just now, haha. Guess I'd better get over to Ebay soon!

@1.50 He makes the point about the tape so that he can position the guitar to achieve the stretches. This validates what I teach to my students about practicing the guitar in the same position as you would play live. You may practice on a phrase sitting with the guitar for hours only to find when you stand up you cant play the same phrase.
@kps2642
@kps2642 8 жыл бұрын
yeah i used to play like you said., but i still prefer how paul plays because it enables me to angle my pick like paul, to get that crisp sound like him when alt. picking , remy does it too, and i can play same thing standing up with even low strap but i can't stretch my hands on 5 and 6th string on fret 17 and above so yeah you should teach your way, so people can develop that and avoid situation like me on high fret,

I don't understand why they had to go the limited edition production route with it because it seems like a lot of people are interested in buying it but they're not going to sell many@$10K a pop. This of course is on top of the fact that they've discontinued the PGM301 which listed for ~$1200 for the PGM401 which lists for $2000. Instead of trying to cash in on Paul's recent surge in popularity I think Ibanez could've tried to give something back to the many faithful PGM users out there.

one of the reasons for the increase in price is because of better wood selection and finishing. the trifade is a rare finish and it is coming with an ash wood body which makes it morre durable thanbasswood... still would rather pay 2000 for tha tthan an absolutley rediculoused priced gibson. ive been to a gibson factory. they were making high end epiphones in the same place and charging well over double the amount for a gibson.

"The first four strings are normal" - they sound different to me, anyone know?
@GregJonson
@GregJonson 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure if your question is still relevant, but those 4 strings are all tuned down 1 whole step (so instead of DGBE, it's now CFAD). It comes from the standard D tuning, which is essentially just that -a regular tuning but with all strings tuned down 1 whole step (to DGCFAD). For example, Metallica uses this tuning on Sad But True. It's also the basis of the dropped C tuning, where the low D is tuned another whole step down into a C; dropped C is potentially the most "mainstream" tuning in 2000's era metal music.
