o god yeah i think itsa only astarters ships that have anything like the advanced star trek style and even there only barely. navy ships are age of sail with plasma cores
@andilucas69265 жыл бұрын
@@ABorderPrince The big difference from the age of sail is that these ships are so huge they have a large permanent population from which they breed replacement crewmen (something I've heard mentioned in a lot of 30K/40K audiobooks). This ship evidently took such severe losses that it had to replenish its human livestock in a hurry - as the visible battle damage mentioned in the story implies.

i heard of this story on some other guy's lore video around the times i was starting to get into 40k, a man of stone remaining from way back eons in hiding. something so very old. it is nice, as an amateur writer, these are the stuff to teach how to get new prospects, for example, question mark, how could something near immortal as a true AI entity can be rationalizing its nearly perfect logical reasoning to stay hidden from the changing world around it in the span of tens of thousands of years. it's very instructive and amusing how some writers will tackle such concepts...

@@ABorderPrince So it is an A.I. Man of Stone!? Is it....? Probably, but after watching this 2-3 weeks ago, it stayed in memory. I thought was it spelt Kron or Cron, or should it maybe be spelt Kronus or Necron. Felt like an epiphany when I thought it as well! :D I thought K/Cron had been a man taken over from the insidious eye-piece, Necron technology, a lord placing his consciousness in it and transferred over in to the guy!?! Many things or reasons could explain why!?! :D I'm sure this 2nd time through will illuminate me!

The question is: what did he do to Nathan? Is he prepping Nathan so that he can hijack his body? Or did Kron turn Nathan into a Man of Stone as well?
@techpriest28544 жыл бұрын
@@VanGeo1 Kron has implanted a copy of his eye within Nathan to later transfer to when "kron" dies. the men of iron is not a thing that can be created anymore, the closest thing to them is us (techpriests) attempting to mimic their wonder.
@VanGeo14 жыл бұрын
@@techpriest2854 1. That's one implication of the ending. 2. Men of Stone =/= Men of Iron. And it is possible to make more Men of Iron. An STC for them has been found before. And if Kron is a Man of Stone, then if anyone could make Men of Iron, it would be him.
@GreatGreenGoo4 жыл бұрын
I believe the men of stone were androids. AI's bound to their bodies. Men of Iron were AI's not bound to bodies. Ghosts in the machines that flowed from mainframe to mainframe. Men of gold were biological/cybernetic creations, probably similar to Quiteued civilization but their creation and techniques were lost to time.

I read this in a scan of the magazine it was posted in originally. Luetin also covered this one a couple of months back, it's a great story that paints a much better image of 40k than so much other fluff, lore and books. Or maybe I just like this better. If someone reading this wants to find archives of WD and similar stories contained within, you need only peer into The Eye.

I wonder how old the human that Cron hides in, is. He said crash start... seems to indicated very different lingo from tech priests. Maybe the human is also from 20k years in the past? If "Cron" is still alive in the modern era of 40k, hopefully he and that man of iron meet Cal or someone important. Edit: Also if Cron is a Man of Stone, it seems to still care about humans, or adleast its crewmen. Maybe Cron is still operating on his original baseic protocols. Although they would not entirely be accurate given the cultural and social changes from 20k years. So hes surviving, but also attempting to co exist with humans.
