Love movies that do this because that’s exactly the emotions that run through you when it conflict with fight or flight… whether to go after his friend despite the frustration and fear for her and himself… and the worry and sadness of staying or leaving her behind. The impact is still there though. He, and everyone else, thought he was going to die. He chose to throw the rock. He chose to save earth, humanity, the gorg, and the boov, even if he wouldn’t be there to see it. The fact that he lived doesn’t invalidate his willingness to self-sacrifice, it just gives us a happy ending for a boov who was willing to do the right thing.
