I've watch both versions of your "Let There Be Drums!" video featuring Sandy Nelson on drums. I was delighted to see Honey Lantree of "The Honeycombs" and Alice De Buhr of "Fanny" on your list. Two other drummers that I like and are overlooked are John Barbata best known for his works with "The Turtles" mid 1960's "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" 1970-1972 "Jefferson Airplane & Jefferson Starship" 1972-1978 among others. John Petersen of "The Beau Brummels: 1964 - 1966 and "Harpers Bizarre" 1967 - 1970

Excellent video! Memory lane, boy memory lane. I so wanted to be Dino Danelli, looking cool, bobbing his head, twirling those sticks and pounding those drums for all they were worth. I was a big fan of The Rascals and their "blue-eyed soul." Bonham, of Led Zepplin, has always struck me as having something special, a phat killer groove that no one else has ever truly duplicated. Love all these sticksters though. Thanks for posting. Looks like you've got a great channel. I'm going to have to peruse your other offerings.

I did make a video for bass guitarists and for some reason it bombed! I think I finally took it down. Yes, every time I make a list video I tell myself I won't do it again because they are so time consuming, but here I did it again! ahaha Have a good weekend!

Put it this way Sandy Nelson the man was very very respected in the l960s. You just might say he was the Gene Krupa of the l960s. He had the Krupa sound and he connected with Up Beat Rock Guitar work. but but but when it comes to drummers my favorite and will always be BUDDY RICH. the legend the Greatest Drummer to draw breath was and will always be Buddy Rich. enough said.
@genez4295 жыл бұрын
Well? Good for you. I love Buddy Rich. But, you are comparing apples with oranges. How many Buddy Rich recordings were being played all over the country at the same time, over the radio everywhere and becoming a national top hit? And in Europe, too? Apples and oranges.. Sandy made you feel happy and foot tapping. Buddy is for another state of mind altogether.

The R&R Hall Of Fame is nothing but a joke. Just as Sandy influenced many drummers Link Wray is not there either and he was the father of the power chord used by tons of guitarists. Rap groups are in the hall though, go figure!
