Of all the christmas related action films, Lethal Weapon os the most Christmasy, it deals with themes of family and loss, dispair and redemption, At the end of the movie when Riggs joins the Murtaugh family to the tune 'Ill be home for Christmas' you feel how much hes healed. To me, this movie in so many ways is all the things Christmas is all about.

The fight at the end was necessary to resolve the machismo imbalance between Riggs and Joshua. Both were Special Forces. Joshua had escaped from Riggs twice, blasted Riggs thru a store window with a shotgun, survived Riggs attack at the desert meeting, and ordered Endo to torture Riggs with electricity. Riggs used a trick to catch Joshua by surprise with the crashed police car, so this doesn't smooth over Riggs injured machismo, hence why Riggs challenges Joshua to an unarmed fight.

"I'm too old for this shit!" This movie would NEVER have been made today as it is right now. It would have been called pro-police and boycotted. Fun Fact: Theatrical film debut of Joan Severance. Good Frienemies Fact: To add tension between the actors, the director told both Gary Busey and Mel Gibson it was the other who kept eating the last waffle. Gun Enthusiast Fact: The Beretta 92F Mel Gibson uses in this film is the same gun that would be used by Bruce Willis in Die Hard (1988). The gun has since been retired. Second Chance Fact: Gary Busey says he was hired to play Joshua because they were looking for someone big and menacing enough to be a believable foe for Mel Gibson. Busey also credits the film for reviving his failing movie career. Done For Real Fact: Jackie Swanson performed the high fall on her own, trained by legendary stuntman Dar Robinson. Also, the stunt was done using an airbag covered with a life-size painting of the driveway and cars, which, like a foreground miniature, visually blends into the real scene. Thus, the editor is able to hold the shot until just as Swanson makes contact with the airbag, for greater realism.

That's not police brutality. That is apprehending a suspect who is resisting arrest.

Best franchise movie

The final fight scene was the result of a studio note, it was filmed long after the movie was finished. The studio thought that they built up his combat and fighting skills but never really showcased that... Lethal Weapon is not a Christmas movie - it takes place at Christmas time, but Christmas plays no part in the plot...Unlike Die Hard, which is a Christmas movie. Dont get me wrong, Lethal Weapon is a great movie - just not a Christmas Movie... Yes continue on, they're worth seeing.

I'm sorry I disagree, Lethal Weapon is far more of a Christmas movie than Die Hard
@Sillydogification Жыл бұрын
@@oaf-77 Ok, Lethal Weapon could have taken place at any time of year - Christmas really doesnt make any impact on the movie - other than having some colorful back grounds... Die Hard on the other hand. John gets on a plane and flies completely across the country to attend his estranged wife's corporate party.... 4th of July? Chinese New Year? Pass over? no. Christmas? Bingo... The bad guys count on Christmas for the building to have reduced occupants and for a slower police response. .. Die Hard happens at Christmas on purpose, Lethal Weapon happens at Christmas by happenstance....Any way, that's where I come from on the issue.
