Camaro Header Emblems (70-81)

I love that you did this. I'm doing a complete body mod, converting my early 77 base coup to look a 72 RS. I've already gotten a ton of crap on FB groups. However, I've always planned to keep the RS/z28 badging off it and just run the original emblems. I'm making it the way 'I' want it, and the purists can go elsewhere! :D

I had a 71 SS Camaro (non-RS) in 1978. The upper valence panel emblem was quite oxidized even then as I think it had a plastic inlay. I don't remember there being reproduction parts back then. You were lucky if you could order a replacement at the Chevy dealer. I was sad that you left out the 78 and 79 Camaro grill emblems. They were unique in each year. 78 had the red/white/blue and 79 had no color, just black on chrome. I still have the original emblems on my 79. For most of the car's life I had 1969 Z-28 emblems in the grill and fuel door, and the original emblems put away in boxes. A couple of months ago, I placed them back on the car and they're still like new original! :)

I love the red header badge! The next one (74? Red White & Blue with the scripted out Camaro) is my favorite. I agree with you on keeping it true to 71. Very nice. If you want to sell that RWB badge, I'll buy it and put it in my garage. Have a great weekend!

Most people don’t know but there are two types of 70 emblem , has to do with the outer edge trim one has a double trim frame the other is solid chrome single

Kind of in the same ballpark but also not really, I did bowtie delete and emblems on my 5th gen camaro. The SS emblems are pretty worn out and seem to have some enamel missing, and the bowties were also showing lots of wear. And the letter emblems on the fenders will be removed soon too, to me they look like autozone special lmao, I really enjoy the 6th gens fender badges tho, I might pick those up eventually

I love the gem 6 emblems personally. I think the quality of the emblem is a lot better too. But 75 is sick too in my opinion.

I put the 80-81 grille emblem on my 79. Just had it as a spare and my car is pretty ratty so I didnt mind

Great content as usual Matt, I always learn more. It’s too bad 74 was the year they switched to that ugly front bumper. I would of liked to of built a Camaro from the year I was born. Hopefully everything is going well with your daughter, still sending prayers.

The '79 Grill emblem has three black bars. I wish they were colored red, white and blue. We originally ordered a '78 and I was disappointed that they moved the Z28 emblem off the grill and replaced it as a sticker on the header panel. However, I was happy about the front spoiler and new decal package. In '79 they also didn't have a "camaro" emblem on the front fender of a Z28. Not a big deal then. However now, I wish it was there because not everyone knows it is a camaro. It could of also been the automotive press who gave the US car makers grief about chrome. Possibly if those emblems were black and not chrome they would of made it.

The 75 looks like a cigarette lighter. The red will look good on your car, what color are your brake calipers? Red would tie in nicely with emblem.

my 1980 has an RS emblem on the grill BUT not the paint job so i dont think it is an RS. The person that owned it removed the fender tag ( i have the title to the car) so not sure why he removed it but that is keeping me from finding out for sure if it is or isnt an RS
