Your new wireless mike works great, Dennis! What you do there give me some memories from school. You maybe remember I'm a fire officer here in Sweden (and farmer/forester), and first year at University / Nat'l fire academy we had to learn how to make fires. Started in lab fume hoods with pine cones and wind by oxygen and ended with full scale controlled house and forest fires after a year. The next four years we had to learn how to extinguish the fires! ;D A husky leaf blower can do miracles in both ways. Haha!

Dennis- if you are still running your saw mill, take 15-20 gallons of wood chips, soak them with kerosene or diesel fuel so they are moistened but not dripping and cover them (but leave vented) and set them back for starting fires like this. The chips will last a lot longer than the straw and is not as toxic as an old tire etc. It makes good fire starter for wood stove as well.

The only other thing that you need to add to your fire starting arsenal is a leaf blower. Starting a fire with wet brush as you know is all about heat. A leaf blower turns it up about 100%. I use the battery powered dewalt.

Way back in the day when I worked construction in Va we used old tires instead of straw and covered those with deisel. But, that's kind of frowned upon now. We also had a farm tractor that had one of those propellors from an air boat set up to run off the PTO that we would back up to the pile and blast it with air.

If you will have a professional but not so funny way to do it, but are working safe and secure so read this Dennis. Take some of your dry firewood and pieces of birch bark to do a small "campfire". When it's really hot you can slowly first lay on some from your pile in back of your excavator or forest forwarder/crane. If it's to hot to sit in cab then you're burning to fast or you can build up a wall of debris between the fire and excavator to get cover from flame heat (and this covermaterial will pre-dry fast also). Then you can in a fully controlled way put on more and more. If wind changes or it gets dangerous or such just stop to lay on more on fire! Then you can skip to dial 911 (or 112 in EU) to call for back up from Fire Dep't! ;D

Awesome. Once it`s HOT it`s go, go, go. Just need a disco ball to toss in. Disco inferno! Out of curiosity, how do you decide which is a better method of getting rid of tree debris, to burn or crush it? Just something about stump pulling with an excavator that is simply fascinating to watch.😎
