6/14/24..hey DB, 2day it was BOSS DB, wife, & star of this video!...Boss DB did great & really Was needed as helper to connect & push & hold those double perforated, bottom oriented perimeter drain pipes. Thx for showing & explaining the correct procedure (code compliance) activity on this house. Suprised to see only friction 'click' connection rather than your usuall 2part purple (& clear or just liquid nails) glue to hold the fittings/pipe together. ...but you know best (& practical) application(s). A+ video today, very warm & relaxed 'welcoming' presence about this presentation. Humorous in that here we film hubby & wife plumbers working together in a 'mud hole'...installing 'holy' pipe!!😄...yup, i like your channel, no BS & you show your wife & sometimes your kids helping! Great stuff!🎉👍🪚🔧⚙️💪👨🔧🍺😊

So is the idea with the drain holes "on the bottom" at approximately 30° away from each other straddling the center of bottom... that the pipe only "fills up" and carries a decent amount of water away when a "decent amount of water" collects at the footing? That otherwise, the gravel and soil below will be absorbing small amounts of water? I guess this makes the most sense, because if you put the holes at 9 or 3 o'clock and noon or points above horizontal, the area would have to fill up to that level for any water to collect in the pipe.
@timsherwood75532 ай бұрын
Great videos! I couldnt find this in the comments if someone already asked. Was curious why you didn't use fabric to make a "burrito" with stone and the pipe. Also didnt realize you could do it before tar, you'd typically tar first, right? Is it because you wanted pipes in to get the standing water out?

That's how I do every project bang it right in with the skid steer jump over the footing.. this job was done like this intentionally
@jokesatinappropriatetimes3 ай бұрын
Is there no need to raise the elevation of the pipe opposite the drain to daylight, then pitch it in both directions to the outlet? Seems you may get pooling in the middle of runs. But I'm no pro... I will be building my own house next spring and will do pretty much everything except forms and concrete. I was under the impression drain tile still needed to slope toward the outlet.
@DIRT-BOSS3 ай бұрын
@@jokesatinappropriatetimes No run that dead level Water is level when it rises it automatically flows.. when you get to your daylight then you pitch that pipe.. otherwise the corner of the house where you have it higher will not get water to it until The water level raises so high

Good Work DB! Does staying to the bottom of the footer to daylight guarantee you have pitch to move water along from opposite side of foundation? I know level pipe still moves water. Wasnt sure if bottom grade carried that pitch from end to end when you had the ponding happening at one end.

D-Boss! saved 10 bucks on some glue!…got to glue that junk pipe….I ain’t saying use any purple primer, just some pvc glue at least….betcha it came apart in the sleeves when the stone hit the pipe….but whatever….remember the really crummy stuff before where the inner bell was black polyethylene and you had to use the blue glue to bond the two different plastics together…that was really junky pipe! It would slide itself apart because of the two different plastics if you didn’t use the blue glue….mine as well just chuck it in the hole a cover it with stone and head home!….don’t tell Mrs. D-Boss! about that!

@@DIRT-BOSS I’m old school pvc guy, mid 90’s when I was in my 20’s working for a excavating guy during start of the McMansions it was all 4” schedule 40 pipe with the holes in the bottom and it was all primed and glued….10 footer was 4.25, fittings were 2.50….what’s it now like 65.00 for a piece of sch 40!….but I still glue the junk together…myself regardless of the code….at least you didn’t camarata it…remember that!

That stuff doesn't glue...doesn't work on it i've tried. I use small zip screws (have a ton left over from doing gutters years ago). I prefer SDR-35 but the budget doesn't usually support it. At least it's not corrugated

The pipe should not be placed so close or directly touching the footing as it leads to water accumulation against the foundation, causing erosion or weakening over time. Always surprised how contractors make this simple mistake as the foundation looks great.
