I got this game used (missing the most important item: the manual) and I was like 10 enjoying the hell out of D&D in 1981. I couldn't figure out the game on my own and of course, it's 1981. No internet, D&D suddenly became taboo because it was "fun and different," and no one in my neighborhood had one to teach me how to play it. I kept it for years on my toy shelf hoping to one day learn how to play the game. It's November 18, 2022 and I'm 50 now... and believe me when I say this: Thank you. I don't own the game anymore (everything I had was given away when I left for the Army at 17), but FINALLY... my curiousity is satisfied.

The game seems way more fun when played by someone who knows what they're doing.

This seems like it would make for a good updated touch tablet game with animated walls and characters.

Played this game as a kid when it came out. Had the game figured out after 3 plays. This video is a blast of nostalgia for me.

I saw this in a video game museum yesterday, and was wondering how it works. This video helped tremendously. This almost feels like a computer game except its on an actual board!

I used to carry my game in a backpack to college and play it during breaks and meals. Beating the dragon was not hard. Two players is where the fun begins. Usually less is mapped out before waking the dragon. You can't always be certain who the dragon is following. You also need to keep your opponent from stealing the treasure from you when you grab it. On rare occasions you can take the treasure to your apponent when the dragons too close or blocks the exit and hope he wins the skirmish as the dragon will kill whoever has the treasure. These have been funny. Never had a problem finding someone to play against. Still have my game but it seems a little more generous in making doors, especially after the treasure is grabbed than yours.

I bought this game NEW in 1980. I used to get coked out & play this for hours. Hey, whatta ya want from me? It was the Cocaine 80s. I just found mine in buried in a closet. And, it still works. But, oh shit! I don't have any cocaine.

I went to see the new Dungeons and Dragons yesterday and it was really good. It's a shame there was never an electronic version of HeroQuest.

Where any of these sound effects used in the movie? Can you show the two player steal the treasure. Great job. Fun

Good job. I used to master this game. A good strategy was to try to jump on the treasure in the same turn you awaken the dragon (before he has moved). you know exactly where the treasure is (and the dragon). In this game, had you gone straight for where you thought the treasure was you'd have got the location sooner. Also a good strategy was to play two characters as you could work in teams. Nice video.

this came out in, what, 1980? I was a 12 year old kid and there was not an electronic game I didn't play... except this one. Never knew how to play it until now, and it looks like a very cool game. I may or may not have had the patience for all the thinkin' back then, though.

You don't know. You get a sound to let you know when you wake him(enter his room). You can only guess where he's at. That's the tricky part.

Dude, you made it by the skin of your teeth. I've still got this game and I think I might just bring it out for some 'ole nostalgia. At one time I had made it that you could play a 6 or 8 level dungeon by escalating the difficulty each level and using only one figure. Board Game Geek has a video game version someone made a few years back called Ghouls and Graveyards. He changed the name because he thought he may get sued by Mattel, but the game is an exact playable replica of the D&D Labyrinth Game. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/65416/flash-computer-labyrinth

Hey! I watched this and HAD TO GET THIS GAME! found one one EBay and I LOVE It! But I wondered if you could help me...on the back of the game there's an a/c adapter?? Like instead of batteries it could be plugged in with a cord. Yet I can't find any info anywhere about any of them coming with a plug? Does yours have one? Have any info about this?? Anyway let me know. Thanks!!!! And thanks a lot for creating a new addiction in my life! 😂

Twiztedgoalie yeah it's so weird...Mine takes batteries too but then there's that hole on the back for a plug. 🤔 Strange. Really weird to hear yours doesnt have one at all. They must've made a few different models. Thanks for the info :)
