Ok so after re watching my own video I realized I did miss the concept of her being sick. The movie was “accelerated” because her time was limited. I completely missed that part creating my own movie in my mind 🤦🏾‍♂️ This why ya won’t subscribe to me 😂 I know. I understand. I really had to watch my own commentary to get it. This is soooo tragic y’all. I take back the whole this doesn’t happen in real life statement. Thanks for watching tho! I love you all ❤️

Not sure if this has already been commented, but for those who are not aware, the title is based off a line from the book. In the book Jamie is in way worse shape on the day of her wedding, she is in a wheelchair right up to the moment she is suppose to walk down the aisle. In the book, Landon's thoughts, "The doors opened and I saw Jamie, seated in her wheelchair, a nurse by her side. With all the strength she had left, Jamie stood shakily as her father supported her. Then Jamie and Hegbert slowly made their way down the aisle, while everyone in the church sat silently in wonder. Halfway down the aisle, Jamie suddenly seemed to tire, and they stopped while she caught her breath. Her eyes closed, and for a moment I didn't think she could go on. I know that no more than ten or twelve seconds elapsed, but it seemed much longer, and finally she nodded slightly. With that, Jamie and Hegbert started moving again, and I felt my heart surge with pride. It was, I remember thinking, the most difficult walk anyone ever had to make. In every way, a walk to remember." Sorry about the length but I felt anyone who reads this should have the backstory of how much she actually struggled to get down the aisle.

What?! I had no idea. That is beautiful. I wish that they would have included that in the movie. I feel at the time this movie was released, the media and Hollywood still wanted everything to be "pretty", sugar coated, unrealistic, and untrue to the book. Can't tell the truth because it's "unflattering'". But I guess that's what Hollywood does right? They omit, lie, conceal, pretend, and cover shit up. ANYWHO! Thank you for sharing this interesting bit of information!

Okay, so as one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books, let me explain something to you. In the movie they did not show just how sick she got. In the book they rushed the wedding because she was really really sick. The title comes as a reference to her walking down the aisle. She was so sick by the time the wedding came around in the book that she was so weak she was wheelchair bound. However she wanted to walk down the aisle. So with her father's help she bared through the pain and exhausrion to walk down the aisle. And this took his breath away to watch this display of her love and strength. It was truly a walk to remember. "It was, I remembered thinking, the most difficult walk anyone ever had to make. In every way, a walk to remember." The movies don't ever quite do the books justice. So if you want a book recommendation, I recommend any Nicholas Sparks book. I think I own all but one of them and the majority have a movie to go with them. I recommend The Last Song (it literally made me sob), Safe Haven (because it will leave you going "What?!?"), and The Longest Ride (you get two love stories for the price of one). Plus it's never to late to read A Walk to Remember.

I'm a big fan of Nicholas Sparks and this is one of my favorite movie adaptions! So glad you reacted to it. As for the title, that's emphasized more in the book (IMO) than the movie. In the book she's so sick that she's in a wheelchair & it's thought she won't be able to walk down the aisle. But when the time comes she is able.

He did rather fast but when a person is sick, and they don't have a lot of time in this world. He just wanted to give her the best that he could give. And that comes from a true hearted guy who truly does Love and care about his woman. Or girls who do it for the guys they love. This story is sad because you see how much pain and love there is, and love has no time or bounds to how long a person should know someone before they can say I love you. Because love has no bonds. But that's how I felt about this movie when I first watched it.

Not sure if someone else already mentioned this in the comments but Nicholas Sparks wrote this book based off his sister. She was dying of cancer and her last wish was to get married. He wrote the book before she died. I believed she fulfilled her dream to marry before she died. He said in an interview that his sister was exactly like the character. Knowing this was based off an actual person makes the movie even more real and more sad for me.

When you're confronted with death; all of the little, fleeting, meaningless things in life fall away, and you see with crystal clear clarity, all of the things that make life worth living. When you finally see that time clock that sits over your life, and over the lives of the ones you love, you don't waste the precious amount that you have left. Just one day, one week means as much as 80 years. I won't go into much detail, but I've lost so many people that I love and I've come very close to death myself several times. I assure you Billy things like this do happen in real life. This movie is based on a true story.

This story is actually largely inspired by Nicholas Sparks' (the writer) sister's life. “Like Jamie Sullivan, she got sick, she got cancer. And like Jamie Sullivan, there was a boy in her life. And like Landon Carter, for a long time, this guy knew there was no way he could ever marry a girl like her. He knew he could never fall in love with a girl like her and yet, like Landon Carter, he did and like Landon Carter, even when she got sicker and sicker and we knew she wasn’t going to make it, he got down on his knees and asked her to marry him. And I remember thinking that’s just about the sweetest thing that anyone’s ever done for anybody.”

He met a woman his age that he fell so hard for, and it turned out she had terminal bone cancer. They got married and she died shortly after. He visits her grave every year ten years later and says he still loves her, it also really changed his whole personality and made him mature very fast. it does happen in real life....sometimes people are nervous and anxious about dating a person with cancer....alot of people are in relationships, engaged, or married to a person who was first diagnosed or already has it because they know the prognosis, chemo, and treatment thats needed to cure it, OR that its worsened to no cure.

Actually, Billy, sometimes young couples DO get married when one is dying. Always loved this movie. And yes, the black guy had a terrible role for most of the movie. But this was also a Nicolas Sparks book adaptation for film. I always liked the idea of reading the book and watching the movie to see the differences. The Notebook movie was REALLY GOOD. But I don’t think I ever read the book. But I DID read the sequel book, which is about the dad in old age and his adult children. Though they never made a movie of that one. Still a Nicholas Sparks movie. The biggest one adapted of his books to date. You outta review that one!

I always felt that they had to rush the ending because they literally were rushing down the aisle. They knew she was dying. They wanted to do everything they could with every moment they had left together. Some people marry their sweethearts in the hospitals on their deathbed because of this! It’s heartbreakingly beautiful.

The time feels fast to you. My best friend had CF. She knew the statistics of someone born in the 70s. She met the love of her life in 92. They got engaged. Her health was deteriorating fast. She planned her wedding from her hospital bed. They married in October.... she passed June 7, 1995.

Every Nicolas Sparks book ends tragic. That's kind of the genre. The movies always cut out and skim things and that's why it felt way too fast.

So I rewatched this movie yesterday and man was I DEVASTATED. You know when you watch a movie and it hits you deep and you still end up thinking about it long after... well that was me today still depressed about it and feeling all of the heavy emotions like I was still grieving Jamie's loss lmao. Anyway that's why I was binging clips and interviews about the movie, etc., and came across your reaction video and OMG was it needed. I needed those laughs and the light-heartedness you provided. So thank you for this. I really needed it and appreciated it.

The best part was missed! Landon was trying to help her reach all her bucket list goals, and the big one was “to experience a miracle” And after she passed he talked with her dad and mentioned “I’m sorry she never got her miracle” And the dad (whom he previously had trouble with) said “she did, it was you” ❤😢

It actually has a story where it did happen in real life, and the day after they got married, the woman passed of leukemia, I don’t remember when it happened, but I know it’s a true story, and it does happen in real life if you love someone that much, you’ll literally do anything for them even if they’re gonna pass. Our bodies might die but our soul and love lives on and love never dies.

ICYMI he married her (at such a young age) not just because he wanted to show her how committed and how much he loved her.. .but #1 on her "bucket list" was to get married in the same church as her mom and dad married. also, her beliefs meant she was chaste until marriage, so that way they were able to fully experience "love" :P
