The M17 is definitely next level. These HPA-powered high capacity air guns are not toys. Real 0.68 caliber self defense. I think it's marketed mainly for paintball but it certainly could be used for Pepperballs at the lower velocity settings.

It's not super popular in paintball due to reliability issues. I first got it for less lethal that can fire shaped rounds (Grimburg HP68) and then got into magfed paintball. It's been modified with a new shroud, longer and more accurate barrel, Magpul MOE buttstock on a buffer tube for a remote line, upgraded recoil spring, etc. It also has a bolt return handle, which I strongly recommend getting. It looks like an AR platform charging handle, but is used for stoppages where the bolt is fully forward. I'm also installing a 3D printed mag well to take a more reliable and cheaper mag than the M17 square head mags. On another note, the Tiberius Arms/First Strike T15 is quite popular in paintball. A VKS is just a T15 using M17 style mags and is most likely modified. Then there's the RAP4 468 PTR. That's in a league of its own. It'd be the ultimate less lethal launcher. IF you can get one, DO IT. They're backordered due to production for US Army for force-on-force training, but dig around in paintball forums and on reddit and you might get lucky. It won't be cheap, but well worth it.

@@northernlightsandsirens4230 I think reliability also comes up with less lethal mods to the M17, but it's still relatively popular as a cheap platform for mods. Umarex brands seem to hold up better under higher PSI. I love the look of the Tiberius T15 but it's blow-back design makes it weak for less lethal. The PepperBall VKS was my choice but the price has gone up way to much since I bought mine.

Most of us in the less lethal community have both the PepperBall VKS and the Valken M17. And from what I have read and seen, all the guys really love their M17s more than the VKS. I wouldn't go that far, professing love for an inanimate object (to be sure, I'm not a loon like most of them are). I only LIKE my M17, as evidenced by my taking it to bed and spooning with it all night, the grip tenderly nestled next to my man parts.

Biggest issue w those 😉👌.....but of course there is a different way can stack and even remove the regular completely 😉. Anything past 30 joules, you're definitely going to chanfe/upgrade to the Milsig Oring or it'll blow too lol. 👌

Actually, the M17's seemingly weak-sounding report is because of KZbin, etc. On average, the report of most markers shot on KZbin rarely sounds firearm-loud. The M17's , or any marker's, report is contingent on where the recording microphone was placed, the quality of the mic, the audio recorder's and app's settings, the recording device, editing, your speakers, or the volume setting, to name a few. Examples of this are on KZbin: see videos where the hosts say something like: "man this is really loud, hope my neighbors don't call the police." But on our end a listener might say "that sounds like a cap gun." Anyway, having shot all manner of firearms, I agree with the premise that markers are not even close to being as loud as, for example, a 9 mm Glock. That said, I would qualify that assertion that IMO in a hostile indoor situation, in the heat of the perp's moment, these things will sound like a firearm because to the average low IQ career criminal/perp who doesn't know much about firearms: When the M17 is discharged in violence, I can almost guarantee to the perp the M17 will sound like the real deal, especially if your bore-sighted shots are on target to the neck, face, head, or hand (side note: shots to the hand are extremely painful, disabling, and disorienting. Given the choice and rare opportunity, I prefer hand rather kill shots. I duly note that when the adrenaline is coursing like a busted faucet, precisely targeted shots are probably not on the menu.) If I was to rate the M17's report (indoors, scale of 1 to 10, with 1 sounding like an assassin's silenced .22 and 10 being the distinguishing crack of an AK47) I would rate these at 3 to 4. However, and it is a BIG HOWEVER, when you upgrade the power on these things the report increases to the 5 to 6 range. Side Note: Neck, head, and hand shots are doable your M17, or any marker , that's "bore sighted" with a $25 laser bore sighting device, available on AMZN. The two I have are here: search AMZN for "Angeebin Universal Laser BoreSighter for .17 to .78 Caliber ..." Bonus Tip: The color of the laser beam on the bore sighter should be the opposite color of your marker's laser sight beam, this so it is easy to tell which is which on your targeting wall. I chose a green beam. Regarding lights and laser sights, I highly recommend this one, it is a combo device in a very small form factor (flashlight, defensive strobe, laser sight): on AMZN search "Firefly V5 Gun Light Laser Flashlight Pistol Combo | Combat Veteran Owned Company." Once you turn this up to maximum, it get considerably louder in an enclosed setting. Case in point would be an unrestricted HDP50. It’s VERY loud! Have a great weekend!

Well, that would actually bear with a little explanation. I’ve had this channel for a little over five years, and when it started, it was all retro tech, computers, and Gaming. However, over the years it evolved into anything technology based. Every launcher that I have shown, as well as all new designs that are coming out, are based in technology. So you could say that everyone of these launchers is a solution based on technology to the problem of less than lethal self-defense.
