Skilled tradesman are a dying breed sir. Drivers, welders, constructors of all kinds. It's amazing to these artists show the mastery of their crafts. I'm part of the millennial generation but I've been raised with the value of hard work and a wide range of skill sets. I've worked asphalt, turned wrenches and now I'm a driver and while in high school I built houses expecting that to be my trade until the market crashed in 08/09 and I had no work when I got out of school. It has saved me so much money being able to do just about anything myself and the satisfaction that comes with a job well done. Love watching your stuff sir. I haven't witnessed such finesse of an operator in one of these in a long while and getting the shots you do, really nails the fact home that you truly are as skilled as it looks to be from the outside. The tools are an extension of your body and it really shows. Also definitely love the smoothness in that Volvo's hydraulic system. I've used a lot of different brands here and there when I was doing asphalt and crisp, smooth hydraulic systems and controls are critical if you desire perfection and not visit the chiropractor on a weekly basis.

WOW, you're really gonna need a bath for the Volvo when you get finished with this project. What a mess you got into with that sinkhole. Good thinking to move the rock into it for a better base to work around. As always, Chris, you have good plans in your head and you execute them perfectly.

You know that's crazy that you would never think that someone would want to watch someone excavate. But watching Chris is like so calming. And he's so good with that excavator he understands common sense and I'm so happy to know that there's someone out there that still has common sense that operates large equipment I drive truck for a living and I see a lot of people without common sense. I guess that's one of the reasons why I'm subscribed to his channel is because he has a gift I've been watching Chris now for 5 years 6 years and one of the First videos that I ever was blown away with was when he went out to Vegas and he walked that excavator down a beam and he did it without even warming up or even practicing. I would say I have just about as many hours watching Chris as I do watching movies in the last 5-6 years and how I found Chris was watching him bust beaver dams I had a fascination with watching large bodies of water disappear. Now I have a fascination with watching Chris play in sinkholes and dig out ponds. Huge fan as long as he's making the videos I will continue watching them. I've never operated excavator I've operated front end loaders Bobcat tractors backhoes never an excavator I think it seems like it would be fun it would be like being a big kid in a much bigger sand box with the risk of sinking LOL

Thinking about the hole. If it isn't a planned hole, what do you think about using the "mud" to fill it, with the aid of a vibrator like is used when pouring concrete foundations? The solids settle and the water jumps to the top. Not sure, but the mud might need mixing with something -- every MODU that I've been on, had it's own mud engineer (sometimes multiple ones); they've always seemed pretty nice to me, so you could ask. It's been so long since I worked offshore, I can't recall what all we mixed with our mud. I had thoughts on speeding along the mud removal when you were making the initial descent; as the vid progressed, I came to appreciate it happened to be a lot more mud than I'd initially thought. LOL -- @37:00, you're doing what I was going to suggest!

Just a thought. If you could rig up some kind of slurry pump and 3 sided hopper which you submerge, you can just scrape the mud towards it using the mats gripped in the bucket. Concrete pumps can pump quite a distance, which means loading the spoil mud into trucks can be done without you having to move the excavator
