Yep, you and D have lots to do on Oak Hill Farms. It seems the only 'free time' you have left would be going without sleep - I don`t recommend that. That pond does look good and a fine pond for bream. Fourway Francine needs a flapper cap for the exhaust. That wet soft ground is making it easier to "pull it out by the roots". Shifter linkages might have wallered out egg shaped holes.

Love your vision for the farm and all things really. Time is the bug bear of all. Pond is beautiful. Regrowth speed is not something I see here. Cap is urgent requirement.

That's why you never want a water oak near your house. They get big and beautiful in a hurry compared to other oaks, but they get rotten and drop limbs and fall over in a hurry too.

I can see your getting on to how best use the 953, but I am thinking all that rain has softened up the ground to help with the removal of the brush,undergrowth, and smaller trees. Nice running machine though. Thanks for the ride along sir.

@0:35 Chris, in my region lot of those CAT track loader series with that exhaust pipe runned, no one has a rain protection on. No rain or snow problems ever happend.
@greggb1416
@greggb1416 2 жыл бұрын
Probably not as much water got in as you might have thought, given the amount of rain that fell…, the actual exhaust pipe diameter appears pretty small. However a cover for the future, is a wise plan of action. The property is a beautiful piece of ground.., for you to shape and mold…, as you said “i got the right equipment to do it”… Then there is that old issue of “time”…. hahaha… Great video, Thank you sir.

As a viewer from the U.K. I could not help but think, as you walked around the pond, of a British 'Public Information' film from the 70's, which showed a cloaked figure standing by such a pond, saying " I am the Spirit of Dark and Lonely Waters......" a film all about water safety, ".. and this is the sort of place you'd expect to find me." The film went on to show various drownings in unexpected places, we knew how to make light hearted fun family entertainment back then

That's funny. I've been a construction inspector all of my career of over 44 years and worked around a lot of heavy equipment doing soils work. I don't know how many thousands of times I've seen those little flaps at the top of the exhaust pipe and never gave them a second thought other then wondering why they were there. It never occurred to me that it was to keep the rain out. One of life's little secrets !!

My husband looked at a tractor once that had not had the flap on top of the exhaust - the whole engine was seized up from the rain and snow getting in there, rusting everything and doing nasiies to the engine.

That loader has the power to move the world, but it just isn't an excavator. At least the rain helped loosen the ground some. Where's the mini, out on a job? That could do the cleanup pretty quick! Pond looks pretty good now that it's full. You are fortunate you live out in the woods.

Not sure how your forward/reverse is made , but I bet you'll find the problem in the linkage. Should have ball or hiem ends that if they aren't in the correct position will bind as they go through shifting from forward to rewind. At least I think it doesn't go straight to a valve body.

Those hystats like high idle. The pressures and flows do wierd things at lower RPM's. Need a root rake for that thing now! Put a few of those on track loaders. My Dad bought a 1964 Cat D7E dozer just after the 64 earthquake up here in Alaska To help clear out and rebuild Anchorage from the damage it wrought! I LOVE driving and working with that monster! Still in pristine condition had some minor repairs and scheduled maintenance but all around its a work horse...kind of a bit loud but its been worth every penny he spent! It has 31k hours on it! I bought a 1992 Cat 349FL Excavator brand new I have only 2.1k hours on it and have had multiple issues with it... Old is better?!? Neither of them nor any other big machines we have are ever left out in the elements and scheduled maintenance is always the key! Also knowing the limitations of each mech. is a must! Good content again young man!
