When you first started loading the truck with the 350 it seemed like the dirt never stopped coming out of that new bucket, that is an awesome bucket for moving dirt. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.

Wow, does the 350 ever move the dirt. 4 scoops to fill Barney. It really is difficult to judge scale on video but seeing the bucket next to the 220 helped. The happiness in your voice while hogging dirt is fun to hear. Now, here's hoping Barney is an easy fix. Thanks for sharing this with us all, Chris.

It's amazing what three years of proper drainage will do to a swamp. It looks like the new pond is going to be a big drainage ditch, but that's kind of what the land there needs. And that's some lovely black topsoil there. Just one scoop of that would do wonders here.
@papatomsthoughts5 ай бұрын
Chris, the initial videos from 3 years ago really shows the perspective of what you have done and accomplished, thank you for comparison. That new bucket really moves dirt. Take care and God bless

The color of that topsoil reminds me of a “topsoil” dig I saw in Mississippi. This was in the Delta, a couple of miles from the Mississippi River. This was alluvial land, which is a fancy way of saying it had been built up from thousands of years of river sediments from flooding and drying. Anyway, they were using large excavators to dig up soil thirty feet deep if it was an inch. It was the topsoil from every state north to Minnesota. Beautiful stuff.
@blondeenotsomuch5 ай бұрын
Aye, I'd take a bunch of that over this red stuff.

Actually you can dig area to your dump road suite, refill area with better materials to support your haul road area and hauling equipment. We did that system and worked fantastic majority of time.. congratulations on you 350 Volvo.

The 350 is a beast for moving dirt in a hurry. I'm happy for you getting your dream machine. I remember that nasty swap when you brought the old 220 and started draining the swap. It's not even the same place in only 3 years.
@joshuarichie86225 ай бұрын
Nice machine Chris!! We've found that the 40 ton trucks actually go across bad ground better than the smaller trucks. We have an older Volvo 25ton just like yours and a Volvo 30, they will get stuck all the time in bad ground but our HM400's will go right through it. It's amazing what those trucks will go through! Been watching for years, love your videos!

Always good to see an actual smooth operator, too many cowboys out there
@bishopcorva5 ай бұрын
Lemme see here... 220 average scoops to fill Barney is about ~11. The old 330 did it in 6 scoops. Now the 350 does 4 with the big bucket. All of those were with the largest bucket attached to each machine. I think we've hit peak scoop to truck ratio where another truck might be required to make higher production for sites that would have a longer turn/transport time. If not just a bigger haul truck, which itself becomes a "moving this site to site so it's not sitting more than working" issue. Still though, remember the older 220 wading through the muck and mire to drain that piece of land in the first place. Time flies.

Trying to haul materials on existing grounds can be a big pain. Worked on bay salt flats , converting to housing areas, we also cut in ponds for housing areas that eventually tide into existing bay , some areas were strictly bay mud flats , were dug out materials and dried out materials and replaced and compacted it back.

I have thought several times while you have gotten new larger buckets as to how quickly you adjust to slowing down your dump and return swing . Small bucket on excavator dumps quick, but going to a much larger bucket will dump much slower. It's clear just how smooth you operate, but it's still a learning process for a bit I'm sure.

@ryanhoward10135 ай бұрын
Hi Chris, I timed you, and you were getting 5 buckets per min so at 5yrds per bucket that's 25 yards per minute and that's 1500 yards per hour so that's 15000 yards per 10 hrs day. So that's not a bad days workout. That bucket is amazing,, it was worth the wait to see that thing dig. I hope that the haul truck is going to be an easy, cheap fix. Thanks for the video, Chris. I enjoy every one of them, and God bless you. Be safe out there.

With that monster scoop it feels almost worth getting a second truck and running 3-scoop loads instead of 4. Speaking of which you're about 3.5 scoops a minute.
@paulcoote30945 ай бұрын
If you had stripped topsoil in small sections instead, it would have allowed you to strip the next section whilst you waited on the truck to empty. Strip topsoil, fill truck. Strip topsoil, fill truck etc. 30% more efficient.

@davidepool58845 ай бұрын
Your 330 is making short work of this pond. On good solid ground you could easily keep two trucks busy. It’s amazing how much dirt that excavator can move in such a short time. I believe this is going to be the quickest I’ve ever seen you build a pond. The owner is probably going to have to dig a well to keep this one full because his land is so flat.
