00:00 Brandin, where do you feel like this game was lost? 00:16 BRANDIN PODZIEMSKI: I'm not sure. I gotta just watch it over again, but there were some ebbs and flows. I think they got in transition a lot, whether it was off turnovers or just getting the ball out fast. But I think I gotta watch it over again, to be really sure what happened. 00:30 How would you evaluate your individual play tonight? It seemed like you were playing with a bunch of energy. 00:35 Just try to impact the game as much as I could, both ends of the floor, taking on the challenge with Gary out tonight, so a bunch of times guarding TJ or Tyrese. 00:52 You went on social media, I think, yesterday and kind of posted that clarification post. I was just wondering why, I guess, you felt the need to kind of - ? 01:02 Yeah, I think by my statement, it can be tricky and it can be perceived in a different way than it was made out to be. I respect the hell out of Steph, Draymond, Steve, all them guys. I look up to them, so I just wanted to clarify that and so it wouldn't get twisted in any other way from what I meant. So that's why I felt the need to do that. 01:24 Brandin, what did you see out of Jonathan tonight? 01:27 Yep, being aggressive, being assertive, solid 30 minutes from him, very efficient. And so hopefully he just keeps that same mentality and with everything going on, just controlling what he can control and keep producing for us. 01:48 I'm just looking at your three-point numbers the last seven, eight games or so. How much better does your shot starting to feel? 01:55 I mean, it's good. You guys look at it because it's going in. But I think the behind-the-scenes work has just been consistent throughout the whole year, from Portland all the way to now, you guys are just seeing it because it's going in. But everything else has just remained consistent and it's gonna be the same, whether it goes in or not. I know I put a lot of time into it. 02:22 What do you kind of pin this loss on? 02:35 STEPH CURRY: I think that last stretch of the second quarter was kind of rough. We lost a little bit of momentum, gave them life, went from a one-possession game to, or - we had a lead, actually, then to down eight and then fought back second half, played with a lot of energy. I think down the stretch, that's, obviously, make-or-miss league. I missed two big shots. I wanted to tie one to try to take the lead, shots that I pride myself on. Gotta make those. They are very athletic and try to play physical. We had spurts where we could match that, but we gotta be able to put it together, 48 minutes where you sustain that level of Intensity and IQ and execution. And against a team that has that many offensive threats, if you give them life then it's gonna be tough. So I gotta play better and I will. But I think as a whole, we just gotta maintain our confidence in what we're doing and not have those little spurts where we give a team life. 03:55 You obviously had the big finish the other night in the win, but overall in December, your shooting numbers are down. Just how do you feel right now? How does your game kind of feel? 04:06 Like it could be a lot better and it will be. You're being defended a certain way, but it's nothing I haven't seen before. You just gotta understand when to pick and choose your spots, based on the attention you get and get the ball moving, try to find a rhythm a little earlier. That might be a little bit of an adjustment, but it's something I've been through and I always try to find a way to bounce back. 04:35 Steph, along those lines, I mean, you have tomorrow and then Christmas Day. LeBron and the Lakers are here in prime time. I mean, does that give you a chance to bounce back right away? And how much do you look forward to those performances, big Christmas Day matchups? 04:49 The more you're gonna go through it, the more comfortable you get with the balance of family and playing a game. Obviously, it's a big game, I think, another game with two teams who want to be in better positions going into Christmas, trying to still figure it out. So, we're at home. We haven't really protected home court well, as of late. Christmas spirit hopefully can bring some gifts our way with a win, so excited for the opportunity, knowing it's a chance to bounce back 05:26 Steph, you've dealt with Nembhard, as far as a defender on you a few times. I mean, what's basically - what's made him good on you? Basically, what makes him just tenacious? What stands out about how he guards you and what he does well in that matchup? 05:37 I think certain guys and schemes where - you could tell their job is to stay on me, don't worry about anything else. And if they have the endurance to do it, it's - you kind of love that back-and-forth kind of battle. Yeah. I think he takes defense - that's his role, especially in the starting unit. Whoever the best scorer is, go-to guy, he takes that responsibility. But I'll find a way. 06:19 Steph, I don't know if it's just impression, but looks like you're changing your game, like, a little bit. Like, you're looking to pass to your teammates more and shooting less. I don't know if this is happening, but can you talk about that? 06:40 Well, how teams defend, they're gonna not - I mean, one of the game plan is probably gonna try to take away my looks and get the ball going other places, which we're fine with because usually that creates good shots for other guys on our team. I need to get - be able to use my shot as a threat, be able to score the ball the way I'm used to. And I think more and more of the other people are selling out, trying to,ou know, send bodies where there's traps off ball screens or I'm off the ball mixture. Guys are aware of where I'm at, but that they, the more you kind of see that, the more comfortable you get. Understanding again, where to pick and choose your spots, where to be aggressive. Tonight I kind of let him take me out of it in the first quarter. I think I only got one shot in the first quarter and that's unusual, for sure. So I need to solve that puzzle. 07:36 I was gonna kind of ask you about that because you mentioned wanting to catch a rhythm early. Is that just coming out and shooting more early? 07:46 Well, nah, because, I mean, sometimes, again, you're gonna shoot over double teams the whole time. It's probably not a sustainable type of offense, but getting on the ball a little bit more, especially with a team that's selling out like they were tonight. And yeah, just trying to figure out, again, how to balance using me off the ball to create havoc and find those reads, versus trying to get good looks early. Same way it's been in years past. That's on me to figure it out. 08:22 Steph, Steve had been kind of critical of Kuminga's shot selection and his decision-making the past two games, at least that's what he told us pregame today. When Kuminga plays like he did tonight, what does he do for you guys? 08:37 I mean, he was probably the best player out there in the sense of attacking, being decisive. I think I talked about after the game the other night, anytime you're decisive and aggressive, you live with mistakes, but playing in the flow of the offense, taking what the defense gives you, you saw him get into the paint, get a couple extra possessions for us. He knocked down his open threes. He's getting downhill, putting pressure on the rim, doing things that only he can do, really, on our team. So we love energetic, confident JK. He can change the game for us like he did and stringing a couple of those games together will hopefully rise our level of play and give us a chance to win any given night. 09:26 Steph, do you think people forget how hard it is for you to score some nights? I mean, when you have two guys flying at you or a hand in the face, it's not as easy. You're Stephen Curry, but it's not always an easy night. 09:43 I don't need any sympathy. I'll be alright. I appreciate you, though. 09:51 Does that just add to the challenge, I guess? 09:53 It's what I signed up for.

Clarifying that he didn't intend to sound like an arrogant (fill in the blank) when he said in the post-game that he was going to ignore Kerr's comments on poor shot selection (contested)/execution (missed shot) in the paint instead of trusting the offense scheme (especially with Steph on the court) and passing the ball around to create chaos and an open three (or two pointer). He said he was just going to go about playing with effort and do his thing.

Steph is a professional and one of the best ever. But he needs help from his teammates and from new blood if they can't do it with who they have now. The Warriors are somewhat victims of their own success. Now Steph's being blamed for ruining the game, when he just made it work for him. He didn't tell the rest of the league to copy him. But that's why the Warriors need to change their MO, or else they are fighting an uphill battle.

The league has figured out your game Steph , you have been the case study for the last decade time for some changes to style of play

off ball or on ball it's just the same, he'll get face guarded or get double teamed. I think it's better to make him do PnR more than make him change his game. Maximize his gravity on offense

Yes! You are right he has been THE case study and guess what.....they still can’t stop the demon that terrorizes France! Steph Curry in his mid 30s century s still running circles around 20 year olds and defenses but the league has figured out how to shut players down on stephs team, in order to limit his over capabilities on the court including on using the 10th man (refs). ALL this means is that steph has to put the team on his back from time to time and succeed 3x harder than anyone else just to be the talent of the nba and the refs. And he will do it! Ring #5, he’s completing that infinity gauntlet

Steph curry on a high PnR is literally impossible to guard, literally any time they do it it’s a guaranteed layup or open shot. It’s baffling that Steve Kerr sees that shit in film room and with his “statistics guys” and doesn’t just spam it especially against clumsy stiff centers like miles turner. Curry and everyone on the team except for draymond is a slave to the motion offense which doesn’t even work better than a simple PnR 80% of the time. They have like 4 players that are potentially great PnR players (Andrew Wiggins, Kuminga, Steph, Dennis Schroeder) with TJD as a great lob threat option but Steve Kerr never calls for that shit to happen. Notice how every time a game starts getting close Steph curry just says fuck the motion offense and calls for a high screen? It’s cause he himself knows that shit is wack most of the time. Only person who doesn’t apparently is Steve Kerr. Players are so underutilized because if the motion offense. Makes average players look good, and forces talented players to be average. That’s what the motion offense does. Hammers the nail that sticks out.

This play 5 minutes and sit 5 minutes strategy is not working and changing the mindset of Steph. He looks less involved in scoring, as one of the interviwers asked. Kerr just expects an instant explosion from Steph. We do not see the joy that Steph used to have, which really makes him better.
